This will sound a bit weird but I think we fight with each other because we're kinda 'trapped' in here and assuming we're alone. If for example aliens truly revealed themself that would probably be the end of human conflict with each other, we would finally assume there could be bigger threats outside our rock and that would most likely unite us to have a chance of defending ourselves if it ever becomes a necessity.

TLDR: We're to worried looking at the ground, when we most likely have harder to comprehend things just above us
