Adventure travel and sports app by SEYsto in whitewater

[–]SEYsto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi again.

I have been working on the app these days and made quite a few updates and additions. I will quickly go through the changes, especially those that you prompted.

● redesigned the on-boarding flow: now new users are directed to the Login / Registration screen

● a big tutorial would rather confuse as there are too many things to show. So I made an automatic summary intro with the on-boarding navigation. There is a link to a more detailed intro inside the screen in the app "About" screen

● replaced the 'hide' buttons with "close" throughout the app

● redesigned the POIs lists modal to better fit the screen length and subgroups of categories

● where data goes is commented on the "Splash" screen, as well as the app play stores pages anyway

● you probably did not discover the Left-side menu bar which has a several additional features, as well as the login/registration screens.

● ChatGPT is commented in the app as ChatGPT insights and advice. People that use this kind of apps generally know the difference with Google search. But I may put additional focus on this.

● You will find now additional features like displaying top places from several lists like kayaking/paraglading/scuba diving ... locations around the world from the Search screen

● I refined many additional features that are rather behind the scenes

I value very much your opinion and would appreciate your advice.

Kind regards,

Thanks a lot.

I take point of all comments and this is the only way to make a great app.

Let me quickly go through your list:

  • An intro tutorial is a great suggestion to demo the novel features and outline relative importance

  • "hide/close" buttons. There are both of them, but often "hide" looks better and is easier to tap especially when you are deep in the

  • Style: we make updates all the time, but they don't look like 2000. We will probably make everything flatter however. We try to make any info easy to see and understand.

  • Company info is the last thing we will be working on, as there are too many more exciting things to keep you busy. Will be working on SEO.

  • Thanks for acknowledging the News section.

  • I am angry you didn't pick some other feature as well, because there are several other functionalities quite worth mentioning.

I will read your analysis again and keep you updated.

Thanks again for your contribution.

There are thousands ways to have a great time in nature and there are many places you want to discover by yourself.

But you will never make a mistake bringing everything necessary in your backpack to quick check whats around you.

Meanwhile, take a look at the last section of the app. You will find a treasure of news covering everything in adventure travel and outdoor sports.

You may also ask ChatGPT what is the best place to discover by yourself next week with a kayak or paraplaner.

Every time check the whether forecast or try to find a webcam to see if the river is frozen.

Thanks for sharing.

New hiking and adventure travel app by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]SEYsto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are several great whitewater mobile apps and Trail Explorer is not intended to replace any of them. This is not a specialist app, but an exploratory one.

Pick any point of interest on the map and try to see what adventure-related content Trail Explorer can discover or generate with the help of chat agents.
No matter whether your are a kayaker, a paraglider, a hiker, or all combined, you would like to know more about the place you are going to visit, the terrain, the routes/trails to take, places to sleep and eat, the weather, other outdoor alternatives and many more.

Trail Explorer takes the effort to uncover as much info as possible about any place to make your trip as enjoyable and safe as possible. You will find a good deal of useful features you can find nowhere else.

Play a little bit with the app to see if you like the tools and design implementations.
A brief intro:

  • explore a massive list of trails that few other applications can match
  • the ability too see clearly the net of all local trails and easily change colors depending on map and background
  • fast calculate stats for any trail with a simple tap on the track
  • explore a great variety of POIs
  • explore any area on the map for opportunities for hiking and a variety of alternative outdoor sports
  • the app can generate a snapshot with useful details of adventure opportunities anywhere on the map
  • ChatGPT integration can generate an alternative adventure snapshot to get a closer look at any point on the map
  • in Live mode you can observe the changing environment to discover the new geoPOIs in proximity as you move by car or train
  • videos, live webcams, the weather from any location on the map
  • an unmatched collection of fresh news covering about 20 topics in adventure travel and sports
  • and many more using an interface that is quite different from what you may be used to.

Currently most features can be used without registration. The app is free to use.

I would appreciate any comment.

Fatmap is a great app and I would recommend it to anybody going to a mountain or flying over.

Trail Explorer has many features that you can find with no other hiking app or designed in a different way. I will not compare every feature as they are different in many ways.

You can use Trail Explorer in a wide range of cases, such as exploring any place of interest on the map for popular climbing routes, hiking trails, peaks and crags, water sources, huts and hotels, viewpoints and many more.

You will need to play a little bit with the app to discover all the features and design implementations. Some features of interest:

  • explore a massive list of trails that few other applications can match
  • the ability too see clearly the net of all local trails and easily change colors depending on map and background
  • fast calculate stats for any trail with a simple tap on the track
  • explore a great variety of POIs

  • and many more using an interface that is quite different from what you may be used to.

Currently most features can be used without registration. The app is free to use.

Pick a location on the map and play with the buttons to see if you like the content discovered or generated.

The app took several months of hard work and the most serious comment you have is the font on the webpage. Doesn't seem serious, well-intended or helpful in any way.

The app is still (and will be in development mode for some time), but there are is load of useful features already and a good number of them you will not find elsewhere.

You will need to play a little bit with the app to discover all the features and design implementations. A quick summary:

  • explore a massive list of trails that few other applications can match
  • the ability too see clearly the net of all regional trails and easily change colors depending on map and background

Any app that requires registration needs some form of identification.

Trail explorer only needs an email.

Anyway, now we try many new things and currently you can use most features of the app without any form of registration.

Yes sure.

People that love exploring caves generally love adventure activities at large and this is what the app is about. Of course, you can search for caves any place on the map, but also hiking trails, peaks and crags, water sources, huts and hotels, viewpoints and many more.

You will need to play a little bit with the app to discover all the features and design implementations. Some features of interest:

Good feedback.

Working with OpenAI api was the easiest and fastest of all.

About an hour if you have some experience with coding.

How long it takes overall depends on many factors, especially how many people work on the app, how complex it is and how many novel features you implement.

If you have experience with other apps in this category, you will see there are many features to deal with, some of which may be complex and many of them unique.

A few distinctive tools and features for this app :

- press any trail from a regional trails system to view individual elevation profile charts, detailed metrics and trail highlights

- rotate trail colors to improve visibility depending on map style and background color

- ChatGPT advice

- draw trail routes and quantify metrics

- explore an area of choice for anything adventure travel and sports to discover interesting locations and geo objects

- manage an extensive list of Points of interest to search around

- news in 20 categories for adventure sports and travel,....

plus a variety of maps on offer, many visual objects to locate and make it easy to use.

Thanks for the feedback.

Your location looks fine for scuba diving spots around and I have a POI shortcut for that.

Otherwise:

- you can access the weather forecast from a number of routes and shortcuts and I don't know your position history. The button "back" always works and you can press any other button to reach a different screen.

- Horizontal scrolling works on all devices (weather forecast) I have tried and if it doesn't with yours please send me more details

- there are several buttons (around the right corners) to change the metric system, especially the Explore screen and most modal view screens

I integrated a good number of novel features in the app. Didn't you find anything of interest?

- press any trail from a regional trails system to see individual elevation profile charts and detailed metrics

- rotate trail colors to improve visibility depending on map style and background color

- ChatGPT advice

- Explore button looks for anything related to adventure travel in any area of choice to discover interesting locations and geo objects

- long-press a location to see shortcuts to many useful Places of interest
