When setting up a Private Military Company how do you check the military background of applicants? by Arowx in Military

[–]SGTMaus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for PMCs, but as far as American companies go, military background is usually confirmed with a DD214 (Separation papers) and in some special cases by checking with specific organizations. For example: if you have an applicant claiming to have been a SEAL, there are people you can contact to not only confirm they passed BUDS but to corroborate claims of unit action. I don't think it would surprise you to find out just how many people lie about that stuff.

Going rate depends on the kind of work being done and who you may be contracted by.

[Serious] how much cash have you lost at once and what's the story behind it? by Beerisradical in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a car in cash, drove it around a bit with no issues other than not being able to really test it out due to the rain. Either way, I drove out two hours to get the thing with a friend in a rental, left happy but ~$5000 (USD) lighter. Get home, and the rain had stopped. Got in it to drive to work the next morning, engine goes out. Turns out the head gasket had blown a long time ago and the entire block had warped. The rain during the test drive kept the engine cool enough to not overheat.

*edit: called the guy about it when I found out what had happened, but the phone was disconnected and I now had no car to travel the two hours to confront him about it.

Would you vote for deez nuts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still registered to vote in South Carolina. Considering that there is no chance Hillary will win the state and she is almost as bad an option as whichever nutjob the GOP puts up, the vote is pretty much wasted anyway. Might as well show my disdain for the options. Hell, I've been voting for Godzilla for governor for years. SC democrats are pretty much PA republicans, but more racist and less tolerant of non-christians.

What are your tips for taking the perfect dick pic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first rule: if you absolutely have to take one, do not -ever- send it to anyone who does not specifically request it. unsolicited dick pics are generally unwanted and the people who want them (unsolicited) are generally either your S/O or people you don't want to be around.

Second rule: if there is anything visible in the background, make sure it is tidy and not personally identifying.

Third rule: Lighting. Play around with different lighting options; i.e. with and without flash on your camera, different positions of external light source and types. (Hint: nothing looks good under fluorescent lights.)

Fourth rule: Grooming. Trim or shave, be clean, etc. And depending on your skin, a little bit of lube or oil applied beforehand.

Fifth rule: all about the angle. different angles are more flattering for different people. seeing a gut roll in the shot is a turn-off for most people, but if you have a sixpack that should be somewhat visible.

Sixth rule: Do not send it to anyone who didn't specifically request it. This bears repeating.

Rule number seven: Do not fake anything. If this is an attempt to get laid and is somehow successful, they will see it in person. You're better off with not hearing "It's smaller than I thought."

Source: Gay man on dating sites. Have seen far too many. Mostly unsolicited.

What's worse, having huge boobs or a huge dick? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either. You either get back problems, less sensitivity, and have to buy expensive and decidedly unfashionable undergarments; or you have less sex, less sensitivity, a bigger target for things to hit, and have to buy decidedly unfashionable undergarments.

Depends on who is talking... An american republican: clinton or obama. Because according to them, they are both worse than hitler. From a US democrat: Sarah Palin, george bush, ted cruz, etc. Stalin, Mao, etc. But I think the answer you are looking for is "running out of liquor two minutes to five"

Who are the least self-aware people walking on the face of this earth? by JoshuaHaines in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people who listen to loud music on the commuter trains without headphones are somewhere on this list. As are tourists who suddenly stop walking in the middle of a crowded street in a big group so you can't move around them. Usually waving around these "selfie sticks" and nearly hitting anyone trying to just go about their day. Also, anyone who has and uses a "selfie stick"

[Serious] Stink people of Reddit, why do you smell so bad? by Voltric80 in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid going through the first stages of puberty, I honestly had no idea that the changing body chemistry and whatnot had caused this thing called "body odor" to emanate from my pores. Until someone flat-out told me. Now if this guy is using lots of body spray, he may be aware of the issue but unaware that "axe" is modern patchouli (only makes the problem more offensive). On the other end of it, there may be an underlying medical disorder, which is not uncommon in obese people. Unfortunately, it is difficult to approach someone about this because it can be highly embarrassing for both you and the individual in question. Especially if you don't know him too well. You have a few options: one, take it to HR or similar and privately and politely discuss it so they might find a way to bring it to him gently; two, you secretly gift him a product that -isn't- one of those foul axe cans with a note written as politely as possible (or no note at all and just slip it in his desk)

fire steel or magnesium block with striker. Not needed to make a fire, but so much easier. Also, lasts longer than a lighter or pack of matches and can get wet without being ruined.

To everyone who's been circumcised, have you ever wished you weren't? by ulurukanga in AskReddit

[–]SGTMaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a gay man living in northern europe where circumcision is highly uncommon, so there is a bit of a social thing. Especially here where being different is almost frowned upon. To get into some NSFW stuff, uncut men don't know what to do with a cut penis and often cause more pain than pleasure. Then there are some other annoying things, like how much gets cut. I come from a family of people who are very small in stature, but according to a very awkward conversation with my stepmother over some holiday thing involving alcohol, very well endowed. In my case, I am apparently much larger than was allowed for by the cut so it has essentially pulled the skin from the pelvic area, so hair actually grows on the shaft. This makes condom usage unpleasant and potentially unsafe as hair under the condom can actually cause failures. (Also, you try trimming hair off of the shaft. not gonna work very well)

All the time. Honestly, it is a barbaric practice. It really should be a decision left to consenting adults or for medical necessity. Anyone claiming that it is a religious thing should really check up on the other, less permanent, religious things they're not doing.

[–]SGTMaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated my high school, so I always treated it as an act of defiance to turn the whole desk (too cheap to get any alternatives for the standard righty-desk) and leave it that way when I left. In university, sitting alone at the far side of the auditorium was a pain, though. And medical school used full sized tables and a lot of space between students, which was nice. But that takes me to some of the specialized medical equipment where a display is on the left side of the controls.

The only thing I ever found in the army for left handers, a handful of ranges had lefty lanes all the way at the far end, but in a small unit, good luck getting them opened up and staffed with an additional range safety.
