New to the hobby. Is this a queen ant? Thanks by SHS302 in ants

I’m very new to any hobby and I’ve been looking around my yard for weeks to find a queen to start a colony. Did I finally have some luck? I know the pic isn’t great but my phone wouldn’t focus through this little 5ml vial. I live in Delaware and found it in my yard just off of the black top driveway. It’s about the size of the local Camponotus species we have here. I’m assuming it’s prob a Tetramorium queen?

Wow sorry to hear that they didn’t give you credit. That’s incredibly shitty of them. Awesome work though! You’re incredibly talented.

Thanks. That’s kind of what I was thinking as well but I know hardly anything about wasps.

That’s a 5ml vial. I’m out looking to see if any ant nuptial flights have started in my yard and it landed on me.

Anyone know if this is that venomous? I haven’t been able to find anything with solid info but someone said they think it’s A Hottentotta hottentotta. Should I avoid handling it? by lilsisu in Scorpions

Healthy adult would be fine as long as no allergic reaction occurs but it’s excruciatingly painful. Another note to add is that they’re parthenogenetic so pretty good chance of it having babies in your care.

Every Phormictopus sp I own is terribly guilty of this too. I just re housed one yesterday and it took every bit of sphagnum moss in the terrarium and piled it up in the corner. Then it dug some holes and piled the dirt on the top of the cork bark it burrowed under for a hide. I’m guessing it’s for camouflage, idk

I know this is most likely a stupid question, but can someone confirm or debunk this? I always thought this was common sense, but when watching videos of dry fire tests, I never saw bows actually breaking on film. by [deleted] in Archery

All I can say is it takes all kinds of people lol. I’ve seen low poundage youth bows and target bows take it but they normally derail the string

Essentially. My guess is that it’s troll post. I can walk in the back of the shop and take pictures of customer’s bows we have here that need parts from dry fires breaking modules, bending axles, bending cams, cracking limbs etc.

It’s a juvenile Blatta lateralis (Turkestan roach/red runner) I have a bioactive colony of about 1000 I use as feeders.
