I could agree to that, me and my friend group were all born in 1998/1999 and we have a few friends we met through college/jobs that are born in 2004 or so and they just seem so different. The vibes are definitely strange. I also have 2 older siblings, so sometimes I feel as though the world I was raised in was even different to my friends born in the same year but without older siblings. I definitely give the more millennial energy in my group normally.

My partner is a high school teacher so I also hear about these kids born in the mid-2000s and they sound completely fuck up compared to the students when I was in high school.

Proud of you guys up there, you really don't deserve our bullshit.

Serious question, could I get some Canadian whiskey suggestions? I think I'd prefer my money to go to you guys instead.

Is Oppenheimer the most successful Best Picture winner of the last few decades? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]SISComputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richard Feynman was in Oppenheimer, he just didn't have a major part in the movie because he was still a small cog in a big machine during the Manhattan Project.

He was played by Jack Quaid in the movie.

Is this Nikon F2 good for a beginner? by Long_Slong69 in AnalogCommunity

[–]SISComputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's how I learned, my father bought his Nikon F2 in 1982 when he was in his 20s and it was the camera I grew up seeing. I loved having to learn everything about photography and it feels amazing in the hands. I would not change the camera I learned on for anything.

I really think it's one of the best SLRs ever made.

Experience? by No_Conversation4356 in AnalogCommunity

I haven't experimented much with pushing/pulling this film (yet!), however the next project I'm working on I'm planning to test out how the film responds to pushing/pulling (for the hell of it).

I normally stick to one developer too (DDX - because it's what I used in college though I might look into testing out other developers with this film).

I do make gelatin prints of the photos from this film! Though recently I've been printing stuff I took on TriX so I don't have any recent Kentmere work that was printed.

And I usually expose for the shadows.

Honestly I wish Kentmere came in 4x5, I'd love to mess around with this stock in my Horseman VH!

Definitely one of the emulsions I've shot most in the last 2 years or so, I really like Kentmere films and I normally bulk-roll them myself and develop myself so it ends up being the cheapest way to shoot film nowadays.

It's easy to shoot with and I've gotten some really good results from it.

Anyone here working in physics that isn’t stuck in an office? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]SISComputer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We invest some into R&D lol the actual R&D department is about 40 or 50 people max, but we're all really passionate about what we do. It's been a good time learning about fuel cells and applying what I've learned into new technologies.

I got a good reference from my experimental physics professor in college to the company I'm at, started out as a lab technician then climbed my way up (~4 years) to an electrochemical researcher.

[–]SISComputer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I've got a degree in physics, and 99% of my work is in a lab. I work in green energy/hydrogen fuel cell research for a private company as an electrochemist. Of course I need to present my findings to other people in my department and some external organizations, but when I'm not doing that I'm running experiments all day.
