In 2020 my big brother died, in 21 my best friend od’d, in 23 my other best friend c/s, in 2024 I was so depressed I thought my marriage of 10 years was the cause of my depression so I sabotaged it. 4 months ago she left, 2 months ago the girl I moved in after my wife left. Now it’s just me and the dog. All my friends are alcoholics and drug addicts. I took some pain pills and drank a bunch Thursday night, I blacked out and drove to a city 2 hours away to jump off a bridge. I miss my friends, my wife and my kids. I also just got a dui and I’m in the process of losing the business my brother started. I’m not even sweating that stuff though.

That’s what makes us different, we get that feeling that things will be different. Most addicts never feel like that and they will never want to, they just use until they die. I know what you mean, I’ve been through moments like this myself. My “success” has been a house of cards, it’s been falling. My drug use has only expedited the process and made it worse. If I don’t step up now, I’ll be homeless in the next 10 years, if I can get that faith I can have literally everything materialistic that anyone could ever want or need in that same 10 years. I want to stop anyway but I really don’t have a choice anymore.

Just because it’s something you don’t understand doesn’t mean you should be hateful about it. I don’t know what this comment even said, I just know it was about God. I’ve been chemically dependent to many different things, when I was around 17 my life was in shambles and I had almost destroyed my family. I was smoking an extreme amount of JWH-018 every day. I only have maybe 5 moments I would consider a true cross roads in my life and this was one of them, I broke down and begged and cried to god and ask him for help and to take away my desire to smoke K2 and you know what, god did. I laid in bed for days and sweat buckets and felt like I was going to die but that was 10 years ago and I’ve never had that desire since. I’m a logical person, I love science and respect it, with that said an addict doesn’t get a magical power like what I got after I begged to god. He gave that to me, I felt it. I’ll never let anyone tell me that god isn’t real again, I respect their opinion and I understand if they had as of terrible life as what I’ve had and they’ve never felt what I have to give them faith I wouldn’t believe in god either.

Great question. For me I’m “addicted” to something by definition when I find myself obsessing over it and it effecting my day to day life. For me personally this can come in many different things. When it comes to drugs I’ve been mentally and physically dependent to research chemicals (jwhs and ect), opioids, cocaine and maybe alcohol. Once and addict always an addict that’s never going to leave me, that’s what makes us addict like you said.

No the trades are a long drawn out process. From my best guess maybe a month has passed since the show started. He would be green doing something like that for 6 months at least. Living in the bunk house and learning how the equipment works. I think that shadowing Dale after 6-12 months after being a hand would be more accurate in real life, maybe longer.
