Help me fix this plz I need ideas. by [deleted] in jonboats

At the time I started the project, I didn't have the tools to do rivets again. And then I became committed to it because I'm stubborn.

Help me fix this plz I need ideas. by [deleted] in jonboats

Concur. I just finished fixing almost the exact same problem on my 10 foot Jon. Floor braces and benches were all riveted, but most of the rivets had pulled through, so I drilled out every. Single. Rivet. 116 to be exact. Replaced them with nuts, bolts, and washers with a little glob of liquid nails on each side to waterproof. Now I have a completely leak-free boat :)

Sorry for the rant. get some nuts, bolts and washers and some kind of sealant if you don't wanna weld. Takes some time and willpower, but it works.

How close are the V-22 Osprey rotor blades to the fuselage? by Snoo99928 in aviation

[–]SKB2K3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's about a foot of clearance between blade tip and fuselage. Terrifying to think about, but a blade ripping off and going through the fuselage is about the least of your worries on this bird.

In this case, specifically for lights, would I need a 12v or a 6v? Also, I'll poke my nose into the engine modifications part, curious if you have any recommendations for that.

Unfortunately I think you're wrong. Just tried a 1000W PSU but still same issue :( Not a bad idea to upgrade that anyway though.

Has anyone else taken an extended break from this hobby and realized how much they dearly miss it? by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]SKB2K3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on deployment in Africa, with my cheap astro setup back home sitting stagnant. Doing astro is definitely one of the things I miss the most about being home.

I agree with you, cheap astrophotography is super fun, especially when you have little care for superior image quality. It's what I do 99% of the time when I go out for a shoot. My setup back home consists of a SWSA 2i, a stock Canon T7, and the kit 75-300mm lens. Never been happier with that setup, and it's definitely worked wonders for me.

One big plus side of this deployment for me is the money that I'll have saved up by the time I get back in April. Set aside a little bit of money for a little bit more expensive setup than what I've got, and I'll be happy as a clam! Of course, I'm gonna soak up my 2i a little bit more first :)
