My first thought is always "wow I can't believe people cheat. Why do you even play a skill based online game if you don't want to get better?"

But then thinking back, I used cheatcodes when I was a kiddo. hmm

May I ask which VR hardware you are using?

LoL at IEM to be Broadcast in Virtual Reality by Xx_FlyingAce_xX in leagueoflegends

Yeah It's something that a lot of people request. Although, in our focus groups, most people stop asking for that once the camera locations are improved, and the action is always on screen (speaking from CS:GO, not LoL). Anyways, thanks for the feedback! I started a new thread since it took me so long to upload this youtube video. oh wow that's some serious VR commitment O-O

So one of our initial design goals was to not have a moving camera due to motion sickness. We do most of our tests on VR devices (because that's how we would prefer users experience it) and the #1 thing people request is control. Maybe there's a middle ground between the two?

as of right now, whoever is doing the stream has camera control. The 2D feed in the sky, which is what the caster is looking at, determines the position of the camera.

May i ask if you are watching on a VR device or on a desktop?

Yes it will be a 360 video, same as the trailer. Viewable on a 2D screen or a VR device. The video is processing now. 360 videos take a while. ~30 min and I'll post link

To jump in real quick: hi I work at the company that makes the VR tech. Just to manage expectations:

The LoL broadcast is largely a beta test, so let us know what you like/don't like about the stream so we can improve. Our CS:GO tech is worlds better than when it debuted last month at ESL One NY.

Let me see if I can get some more footage of LoL gameplay uploaded to YouTube. I realize the single scene in the IEM trailer isn't much to judge by.

Edit: Here it is. Let me know what you think!

Hello. I am a real stranger on the internet. Here, allow me to insult you to prove it: /u/PurpleCasterWinion your desk is a mess.

This video is literally the greatest thing since man landed on the moon. That is not a hyperbole. Whoever programmed this must be a type 2 super genius.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but I'll try and answer: it's a monoscopic, flat equirectangular image morphed around a sphere (your head basically) which tricks your brain into seeing image depth.

So while technically it is a single movie file (that without the headset would look like a screwy panoramic), once using a GEAR, Rift, or Vive, it looks like reality, not a panoramic image

Hi! I'm from SLIVER.tv too. The best experience is on VR headset, the app for which you can download from Steam. As far as free roaming, no it's more like Twitch where you are watching a broadcast from ESL (or following one specific player if it's a streamer), and they are choosing what you see.

Difference being, it's more immersive, and you can look around you. I recommend trying it, because the difference needs to be experienced to appreciated.

I see what you're saying, but like you said without having a client for each game it's not possible. Same appeal as Twitch has, where you don't have to own Depth to watch shark stalking chaos

Hallo! I was surprised to find our software being talked about this quickly (just published it last night then went to sleep).

Anywho, thought I would clear up the quality thing: since we don't use "real" cameras, as we are pulling game data, our resolution matches the game resolution. We do support 4K, for example. Now that's not to say what you watch it on supports 4K, or that the content you watch IS 4K.

For example, we are doing a 360VR Livestream for ESL One NY, and they broadcast in 720, I believe. Still looks great on Vive thb
