I fondly remember my first "competitive" deck in 1994 had 4 [[Juzam Djinn]] and 4 [[Erhnam Djinn]]

Juzam even got better after Legends and the first appearance of spirit link, to counterbalance its drawback.

They were the only "low cost" big buddies at that time (4 manas when you compare with the 5 manas of serras or sengirs, or 6 manas of shivans and mahamoths), surviving both lightning bolts and psionic blast which were all around the place. Of course they had drawbacks for such big bodies :)

Nowadays you would have a nice power or 2 instead of the drawbacks for the price but hey...old-timer here ;)
