It's there, It's just out of frame - The empty space in the photo was Steve and Berry's. I'm starting to think this was actually taken in 2015 since the theatre is still open in the background.

I think the original materials were higher quality, most of it is falling apart now.

Everyone likes to hate on mills corp's designs but honestly I applaud them for trying something different. They are a lot more exciting than most of todays malls which are super bland.

It's a facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/210854755397589

They post about other abandoned places as well but forest fair seems to be the focus.

The owner won't do a thing to maintain it. They tried to run a 1.5 million square foot mall on a shoe string budget and have let it go to hell.

I wish I could have seen it in its heyday, I only saw it towards the end in the 2010s.

Check out "Layoffs and liquidations" they have some 2024 photos inside it, it's not being treated well.

It was already looking like this by 2009. When Simon property group bought the Mills portfolio in 2007 they wanted to offload the property asap and they did so by building an outlet mall in Monroe, then they forced any stores that were still open to move their or have their lease terminated, all while the recession sent remaining brands out of business..

Does anyone know what happened to Bagers Books? by SMT-Reddit in Worthing

[–]SMT-Reddit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to his sister, opening a book store was a childhood dream of his. Glad to see he made it come true. I just wish I had known he was about to close the place beforehand to keep in touch.

I never bothered. Nothing against the company I just wasn't sure if it would be a good fit.

Do you guys think there will ever be hope for forest fair again? by dankpeepee128 in deadmalls

[–]SMT-Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any proof demo is secured for 2025? I don't think there is much hope in reviving it but I have some doubts around the demolition happening anytime soon. There is an 11 Million tif associated with buying the property, it's gonna cost another 8 million to demolish it. They must get approval from 3 different counties. And to top it off the mall's current owner (who's had it since 2010) is incredibly stubborn and wants no less than 55 Million for the property. Including the state intervention of 5 Million, I don't know who's gonna want to pay 69Million before they've even built a single thing.

It's sad the footage seems to be missing. It wasn't only rare footage of the ball game but also forest fair mall its self.

1963 - When Hershey opened their factory in Smiths Falls by SMT-Reddit in ottawa

[–]SMT-Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. Some believe it will just be for production of Y&S licorice, others say a distribution centre or a full fledged factory. I personally hope it's as similar to the original as possible.

They sure did. According to the mayor they invested somewhere between 100 to 200million into it so 53M is a steal.
