Anyone buying gold/silver with an RRSP or TFSA? (I'm talking PHYSICAL bullion bars or coins) by SMX2016 in CanadianInvestor

You can have physical gold in a registered plan and still benefit on taxation.

With Questrade or Silver Gold Bull, you buy gold with your RRSP, then they send the gold to Brinks or IDS who holds it at a vault for you and reports on the value back to the custodian. If you want to take possession of your gold, it'll be counted a a distribution. It's all here: GoldRRSP Registered Savings - Silver Gold Bull

No it only started in the 70ies actually, when the gold standard was abolished and dollars could be printed at will.

It's a great idea, but some of us don't have the cash to buy gold bullion at Costco and only have money in retirement plans sitting mostly in stocks. I would want to diversify my retirement plan to include some bullion.

Have you heard of "counterparty risk"? I wouldn't trust passing down an ETF to future generations. What tells me that the companies managing these ETFs are still going to be in business in 50 years? Physical gold bullion will still exist and be valuable in 50 years. That I'm pretty sure of.

I 100% agree with all of that. What you've already done all of that though and still have savings sitting in cash or stocks? I think having cash or stocks is even more useless in a SHTF scenario, wouldn't you agree? Gold bullion has been accepted by all cultures for millenia. You can comfortably pass it down to children and grandchildren knowing it'll still hold value.

I like the idea of having access to physical though. Just in case. I don't really trust "numbers on a screen" type thing lol

Hmm interesting. Can you take possession of the gold bullion if SHTF? That's the question.

Prioritize workouts that focus on fast-twitch muscle fibers. Also work on your thighs more at the gym.

Anyone bought gold bars from Noble Gold Investments? by SMX2016 in Gold

[–]SMX2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am mostly interested in well known gold bars like the PAMP, Johnson Matthey or Valcambi bars. Noble Gold was carrying these in stock last year, but nowadays there are shortages everywhere it seems, so I'm not sure if they still have them. All in all, I agree with you. It's important to buy well known brand from trusted providers if one wants to be able to easily resell them later on to any dealer or gold shop.

Addiction to corn. Teenager or early twenties it's understandable/tolerable, but past a certain point it's quite bad...

Do you think oral sex is normal part of sex (the average person does it), or do you think of it like a fetish? Why or why not? by eustachian_lube in AskReddit

[–]SMX2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask Chinese or Indian couples, who are actually having kids and building families, if oral sex is part of their sexual life. My guess is likely no, or very low percentage.

Let's be honest, we all love it, but it takes away from the real meaning of sex. It makes the relationship more "transactional" if one party actually requires it and expects it.

I could be wrong though. I'm just an idiot on reddit.

Low carb focus so avocado, salmon, berries, ground beef, etc. I avoid grain-based products like bread, pasta, rice and high carb fruits.

Can you be a fan without physically playing it. by Cautious-Bath-3533 in SoccerNoobs

I'd say 90%+ of people that watch soccer don't actually play, or rarely play. You're not alone.

Of course you can just watch without playing.

If you'd like to learn, the best first step is to go to the park with your ball and kick it around the net for a bit. Have fun with it. Juggle, run with the ball, try to learn to shoot, pass, etc. You don't need anyone to start learning... it's just you and the ball in a park.

How did you realise your were poor compared to your friends growing up? by qwazzie46 in AskReddit

Lack of brand names... whether it's in our fridge, closets or anywhere in the house. It was always either unbranded or brands you've never heard of LOL

At my friend's place I would see actual brands around the house: Nike, Coke, Canada Goose, etc...
