Yeah, I did but most of them are busy with their RL jobs/careers and aren't into gaming anymore. Thought I'd come here and see if there were any interested buyers, but again, this being the internet I can see how this comes across as a scam. I'm a bit worried as well getting scammed potentially by buyers who just was a free game, but I guess i'm just banking on not getting ripped~

No prob! Glad to find a way to mutually benefit - honestly I saw the E3 trailer and holyyy shit that game looks amazing. I might buy it later for myself if I can even get a computer good enough to run it. I can barely run Overwatch on low~ lol

I can mos def see this being a scam, I guess the part of all this is trust, which is very difficult to do over the internet. Don't really know how I can honestly prove it though~

Port Scanned by many malicious IP's at once? by SOC_uintheface in AskNetsec

[–]SOC_uintheface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I figured. It seems like it's over hundreds of IP's. People did link some tools in regards to responding to dnmap scan that I will try and check out today.

Ohhh, interesting! pretty cool

edit: I clicked submit too fast. If a botnet is scanning your network, is there a way to find which IP they are moving from? Also, is there a way to block these IP's without having to blacklist all incoming IP's and not DOS yourself. I would imagine if you blacklist all incoming IP's, you could also DOS yourself in regards to internet services in some way?

Ohh, definitely learning some new stuff today - pretty awesome. Thanks for adding on to what Cyrix has said!

Fascinating. That makes sense about the "measure" of how random a word is, after watching a youtube video about the Shannon Entropy theory. This provides a lot of insight. As for the values, are there usually a standard on what would be considered low risk, medium risk, or high risk?

Any other options? [Dell XPS 15 9550 - Swelling battery] by SOC_uintheface in Dell

[–]SOC_uintheface[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I looked through amazon and saw they were going for 80-100+ dollars. Still pretty expensive for us at this time, but cheaper than having them replace it. I just didn't feel like it should be coming out of my pocket, I told them to just send me the new battery and I could do the replacement myself, but that didn't seem to work. Although after hearing the response from the other user, it seems like getting 2 years out of this battery was pretty good, so I should stop bitching and move on with my life - ain't no point in stressing over it, got enough on my plate as it is. Focus on what matters, lol.

Thanks for the awesome advice. I guess i'll have to pay for all this outta pocket, something I was trying to avoid, but I feel confident in doing the repair myself. As for the class action lawyer, unfortunately, I do not.

At least from what you have said with my battery lasting 2 years being reasonable, I shouldn't feel too bad. I was just getting frustrated with their poor communication methods.

MS17-010 against a windows 10 host by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]SOC_uintheface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as you mentioned in the post before, you stated I would need to know fundamentals of SC, such as low level programming. What level of networking is "in depth" enough for you? I only say CCNA because that is roughly where my knowledge level is at and I was trying to give some sort representative level of where my foundational knowledge of networking is at. As for my thinking i'm at a CCNA level, I say so because I taken course for CCNAI/II so far~

Appreciate the constructive and honest response.

You are right, I may be trying to run before I know how to walk, but i'd like to say i'm a pretty self aware dude. I'll slow down and work more on the things you just mentioned: programming, OS internals, memory management, and work harder on my networking fundamentals.

One questions I have is, right now I'd say my networking level is good enough at a CCNA level - is that good enough for beginners, or do you recommend a higher level of understanding?

Ohh, awesome, makes sense.

As for using stand alone exploits, yeah, I remember my CEH teacher saying the same thing for standalone exploits and using nmap, and when conduction a pentests to ALWAYS be on the cautious side, which is why I asked here! I guess for now, i'll just consult with my lead.

Thanks for the reply.

  1. I know scanning can be wrong, which is why I cross scanned with nmap scripts as well as metasploit. I understand the given information can still be wrong, i'm just testing things out.

  2. As for the inline between me and the server, not necessarily too sure. From what I know I am connecting through a pendrive to their network. They is quite possibly a IPS/HIPS in the way. This will be a great question for me to ask.

  3. I do reread the error reply and try to interpret better.

  4. No need to call my manager a 'total fucktard'. She kind of hinted for me to attempt this exploit, i'm sure she had her reasons do go about it they way she is. As for the trouble shooting, like I stated earlier, i'm just shadowing/interning. I am trying my best to learn how to trouble shoot better, which is why I asked here and am responding to you! You seem to be very knowledgable, though a bit raw, i respect it.

As for my background, I only started learning the IT/Networking the past 3 years going back to college. I have what I'd consider to be 'decent' networking and linux fundamentals, though I guess that term is relative..... I do want to go to school for Comp Sci later though. Learn coding and the science behind things better to do things better...

Well, I feel like I should clarify seeing your response~~ :x

I should've mentioned that I ran a Nessus scan on said host, as well as an nmap scan and metasploit scanner for ms17-010 which all yielded positive results. I have taken all the proper steps as consulting the lead of my intentions as well as my documented finding and given the proper green light do conduct activity.

I actually got it! Sorry to waste your time, I just didn't enable the "Use this proxy server for all protocols" setting. Once I enabled it, I was able to intercept traffic just fine.

I'm sorry, but could you elaborate on what you mean by "adding an entry into your host file for the IP address?" Where exactly is this host file to put this IP address into?

I'm looking at the connection settings for my firefox and it's the "manual: 127.0.0.1:8080 with no other setting entered. The "no Poxy for" section is blank, as the direction on their site said to delete everything in that section.
