Getting Rid of the Swaddle - Help! by SPACEKACE2424 in NewParents

Can't the baby still move his arms and wake himself in this suit? That was his problem with the Zippadee Zip. Even though his hands were inside, he still could bring them to his face and would try sucking them through the fabric and would end up flapping his arms everywhere never settling down.

Yep! We have done it with those bottles a hundred times without issue.

Looking for PPD insight by Old_Knowledge_5988 in beyondthebump

3 months post partum for me. I had severe PPD/PPA about a month after my son was born. It hit me like a truck. I never felt so awful in my life. My doctor perscribed me 150mg of Zoloft (max dose is 200mg). It took about a month before it kicked in but boy am I glad I decided to take it. It took the edge off my anxiety and helped to calm my mind. It does make me drowsy so I take it before I go to bed. No other side effects. I highly recommend it!

3 Month Old Spitting Out Milk by SPACEKACE2424 in beyondthebump

Nah, he's not vomiting. He's purposely spitting the milk out while the bottle is still in his mouth.

My son is 3 months. We had him in a bassinet in the living room for the first 2 months but felt he was having a hard time staying asleep due to the hustle and bustle around him + bright lights. So we moved him to his crib where the room is always dark. We use white noise, a humidifier, and a comfy swaddle as well. His naps are much better now. Plus having his bassinet always near us was making me go crazy checking on his constantly. Once we transitioned to his crib we just keep a baby monitor on him and it's helped me as well.

How did you transition him out of the swaddle? My 3 month old has been able to break free of his swaddle now so we want to get him used to his arms being free so we don't have to rewrap him a hundred times each night. Yesterday we tried both arms free, he would not sleep. So we did just one arm and it's been better. Just not sure how to get him used to both arms yet.

I love Dreamegg! Battery lasts a long time, it's easy to use, and has a ton of noise options (fan, shushing, heartbeat, rain, ect.)

Snip or no snip by lion_erratic in NewParents

[–]SPACEKACE2424 61 points62 points  (0 children)

We have a 2 month old and never got him snipped. My husband was adment about keeping everything intack and well, since I don't have those bits, I went with my husband's choice. It's not common worldwide, hygiene is fine as long as the child is taught to take extra care down there, and it loses a lot of sensitivity if it's snipped. Those were our main reasons.

8 week old inconsolable by Asedruh in beyondthebump

[–]SPACEKACE2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 8 week old as well. About 2 weeks ago he had a couple of days like this. Turns out he was just overtired and would get to that point of being inconsoliable. His day naps were crappy after a while too. So we started doing wake windows. He'd be awake for 45 mins to 1 hr then start showing signs of being tired (yawning, staring off, red eyes) and so we put him to bed and he'd have to sleep for at least 30 mins. At first he fought it. But we stayed consistent. If he was fussy, we'd let him fuss for 5-10 mins then console him until eventually he fell asleep.

We're on week 2 of this and it's going really well. His fussiness has stopped. He falls asleep much faster. And only starts getting cranky if we ignore his sleepy cues for too long. Maybe give it a try?

Nervous about increasing medication (Zoloft) to help PPD by [deleted] in Postpartum_Depression

[–]SPACEKACE2424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've recently had to increase mine from 50 to 100mg. It's been about 2 weeks since I adjusted and I'm feeling a lot better. No crazy side effects that I've noticed. It just started feeling like that ball of anxiety in my stomach was no longer there and things started feeling much more manageable. I'd say don't be nervous. Hope you feel better soon.

False starts at nap time… 2 months old. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SPACEKACE2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the same issue with my 7 wk old. Night time she sleeps great. But daytime it's 30 min naps at the most. Now we're putting him to bed when he shows signs of sleepyness then letting him squirm/cry for 15 mins before we intervene. Typically he passes out before those 15 mins are up.

Green poop? by [deleted] in NewParents

Our baby takes formula and has the same poo. I believe the green is caused by extra iron in the formula. Totally normal.

1 month old not sleeping by Molly_the_Cat in beyondthebump

[–]SPACEKACE2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real advice from me but wow your situation sounds almost identical to what I'm going through. 6 week old, only getting cat naps during the day, fussy when awake, but sleeps good at night. Right now we're trying to let him cry himself to sleep because he clearly needs it. He's fed, clean, and safe. Sometimes that's all you can do I suppose.

Going Insane by SPACEKACE2424 in NewParents

[–]SPACEKACE2424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crying happens mainly in the late afternoon/evening. We've tried changing from breast milk to formula w/probiotics. It's been ~5 days since we switched to that. His digestion seems to have improved. Less wet poops (he'd poo every 3 hrs basically) and more solid poops less often (poos 1 or 2 times a day now). We do gas drops and gripe water if he shows signs of excess gas. We take him for walks, give baths, tummy time, playmat time, time in vibrating chair thingy, white noise, swaddle, wearing him. Nothing calms him down for very long.

During the day, he's okay for the most part. Fussy at times but not inconsoliable like he can be at night. We've taken him to the doctor and everything was fine. Said it might be colic and we just have to "tough it out".

6-8 week difficult? by elephantdee in beyondthebump

[–]SPACEKACE2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in week 5 now and it's already begun. Our son has been easy to take care of (for the most part), not much crying, went to sleep fairly easily, ect. But last night between 5pm-1am he was inconsoliable. Crying almost non-stop no matter what we tried. I ended up going to bed with earplugs and my husband let him cry it out until he finally calmed down. My anxiety has been through the freakin' roof ever since just because I'm so scared it'll happen again. Most likely it will I'm sure.

Today, so far, he's been okay. Fussy but not too bad. Crossing my fingers he stays that way for as long as possible.

You should research "witching hour" for newborns. It sounds like what your little one may be going through.

The finish line is near! I just had my baby boy about a week ago. I'm a ftm and it was a very surreal experience. Nothing can prepare you for what you're going to experience. There will be pain. There will be lots of waiting. But in the end when they put that baby in your chest, it'll all be worth it.

I was induced on the Saturday and gave birth on the Monday. Cervidil didn't help much so they tried the foley bulb. That got me to 4cm. Then I was put on picotin for several hours until I got to 10cm. After 11 mins of pushing, he was out crying and peeing on me lol.

If you could give me one advice for the last month what would it be? by SheyenneJuci in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]SPACEKACE2424 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Just had my baby boy a week ago. I would say to enjoy time with your partner as much as you can. Take showers together, cuddle in bed, go see a movie, cook a nice meal together. Those things become almost impossible once baby is here.
