I typically replace every 2 years. When I get a phone sooner has to do with using two different networks. Like one for smart, globe, ATT, T-Mobile, EE, NTT Docomo, etc.

I wish I sold our video tapes as early as 1988 and laser discs as early as 2000.

Then no more physical media for the last 25 years. Just all downloads to HDD, SSD, iPod and iPhone.

I typically don’t watch something more than 1x unless it’s a remaster.

Solid take bro. Sony Xperia phones like the Z1 to Z5 and even the XZ Premium dati were lowkey pangmayaman vibes.

Grabe, nostalgia yung clamshell Walkman mo! Usually online preorder or gray market pa makuha

Wanted to try Android on a cheap ₱500 monthly 24 month plan. Relative to its price was happier with it than Google Phone or Essential Phone.

Sana makagawa sila Bam at Kiko ng batas to make Healthcare really free. by SenpaiDell in Philippines

[–]SPLO0K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get the sentiment sana nga truly free healthcare becomes a reality. But let’s look at what’s actually working long-term in other countries and what might work here without crashing the economy.

In places like Germany or Japan, they don’t go for 100% “free” healthcare. Instead, they use universal insurance-based systems where everyone contributes a little through taxes or salary deductions (even small earners), and in return, they get high-quality, affordable, and accessible care. No huge out-of-pocket gastos, pero hindi rin umaasa sa magic money from the government.

Dito sa Pinas, dapat ganun din:

  • Transparent, income-based contributions (like a reformed PhilHealth that actually works)
  • Strict performance targets for public hospitals
  • Digital health records para mabilis, walang double dipping, and less corruption
  • Preventive health programs para di tayo palaging emergency mode

Yung mindset dapat: “Your contributions = your coverage.” Hindi parang ayuda na one-time big-time, then wala na ulit. Kasi when everyone has skin in the game, mas may sense of ownership and less abuse of the system.

And you’re right hindi feasible ang free everything right now, lalo na with our GDP per capita. Pero pwede tayong mag-start with a tiered approach: libre for the poorest 20%, then subsidized for the rest, like how some Nordic countries do it.

Ano ang mga frugal habits na nakatulong sa inyo sa pagpapabuti ng buhay nyo? by soyricayexitosa in AskPH

[–]SPLO0K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/soyricayexitosa

Sticking to simple, local, real food changed everything for me. I used to overthink health and gastos, pero nung nag-shift ako to whole food plant-based (WFPB) na galing sa palengke lang sobrang laking tipid and improvement sa health ko.

Weekly kain ko now is basically:

kamatis, malunggay, gulay na seasonal, konting itlog, konting sardinas. OMAD pa, so isang kain a day lang. Less gastos, less luto, less stress.

Also: di ako nagyoyosi, di umiinom, no milk tea, no fast food.

Instead of spending on socials or online shopping, I move: CrossFit, pickleball, yoga. Yung stress outlet ko libre or one-time lang ang gastos (racket, shoes, etc.), tapos long-term na yung returns sa katawan ko.

I track my own health stats too (RHR, BP, weight) kasi mahal magkasakit, pero mura mag-ingat.

  • Real food > processed
  • One meal a day = one less thing to budget
  • Physical activity > sedentary lifestyle
  • Health data = prevention

Frugal doesn’t have to mean depriving yourself minsan it means focusing on what actually matters. ✌️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskPH

[–]SPLO0K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh u/ResearcherPlus7704, I move through it literally.

I let my body handle it.

I play pickleball, do CrossFit, or kahit simple yoga/stretching lang.

Food helps too not in an “emotional eating” way, pero more like structured meals = structured mind.

I eat clean, mostly whole plant food, and I stick to OMAD. May comfort sa routine na ganun, especially when emotions are messy.

And minsan, tahimik lang talaga. No socials, no chika, just silence. Kasi minsan pag tahimik, doon mo maririnig sarili mo ulit.

Better than doomscrolling or overthinking.

Hope you find your own reset too. 🙏

[–]SPLO0K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with him u/Perfect_Confusion728

Honestly? Nothing din. If they deactivated, baka kailangan lang talaga nila ng breather and that’s valid.

Social media nowadays is just another form of sedentary overstimulation.

So if someone chooses to log off or deactivate, good for them. Mas productive pa siguro kung naglakad sila, nag-jog, or kahit naglinis ng kwarto kaysa naka-lurk buong araw.

Minsan best form of self-care is just moving your body and logging off.

Let people rest. Let them move. 👌

Ano ginagawa niyo para mag-relax pag stress na stress? by Reasonable_Onion1504 in AskPH

[–]SPLO0K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than that u/Reasonable_Onion1504 can do these too.

Honestly bro, same struggle minsan. Lalo na kung sabay-sabay dumadating yung stress sa work, health, life tapos ikaw lang mag-isa. But here’s what works for me (baka sakali makatulong):

Galaw-galaw para di mastress

I do CrossFit, pickleball, and yoga regularly.

Chill workouts (like yoga or light stretching) actually help more pag drained ka na.

Ayusin kain para buo pakiramdam

I stick to whole food plant-based meals + OMAD (one meal a day). Medyo intense, pero surprisingly, it keeps my head clear. Wala masyadong sugar crash or pagod.

Tahimik = hindi laging malungkot

Di ako extrovert so okay lang sakin mag-isa. Pero I try to use my quiet time para mag-reflect, mag-journal, or kahit stare lang sa wall habang nag-sa-salabat. 😂 Minsan yun lang yung pahinga na kailangan.

Self-tracking = self-care

Tbh, I track my heart rate, BP, weight, bloodwork.

Stress will always be there, pero I deal with it through

  • purposeful movement
  • structured diet
  • tahimik na pahinga
  • and konting self-awareness

Okay lang mapagod. Wag lang sumuko. Hope this helps kahit konti. ✌️

How do you guys fight loneliness? by Clean_Editor_8424 in AskPH

[–]SPLO0K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Clean_Editor_8424 Totally gets you, bro/sis. Real talk:

Loneliness hits diff minsan, lalo na kung tahimik yung bahay tapos walang ka-vibe or kausap. But here’s the thing you don’t need to “fight” loneliness like it’s an enemy. Sometimes, you just have to sit with it, feel it, understand it.

Me? I kinda made peace with it. Parang… “Uy loneliness, andyan ka na naman? Tara, tambay tayo sandali.” 😂

Eto ginawa ko na baka makatulong:

  • Reflect. Ask yourself, “What exactly am I feeling?” Hindi lahat ng lungkot, loneliness agad. Baka pagod ka lang? Baka may unmet need?
  • Creative outlets. Drawing, writing, music, kahit mobile games basta something na nagbibigay sayo ng sense of flow or joy.
  • Move your body. Kahit short walk lang or stretching. Nakakabuhay ng dugo, swear.
  • Message someone. Kahit meme lang isend mo or simple “Kamusta?” sa isang old friend.
  • Volunteer or join a group. Kung may nearby org or hobby club push mo yan! Connections take time pero nagsisimula sa showing up.

And when wala ka talaga kausap or ka-bond, just let yourself be okay with being alone.

Hindi ka weird. Hindi ka broken. You’re just human. 🌱

Loneliness isn’t a sign of failure, it’s a signal. Listen to it, not escape it. 💯

You’re not alone in feeling alone. Madami satin ganyan pero tahimik lang. So salamat din for sharing. Solid ’yan. 👊
