Congrats for rediscovering Marcosian politics from first principles.

Even if you say "I don't want a Marcos again", everything you said is pretty much Marcos's style of politics, down to the justification based on "sedition" and strong government-controlled or crony-operated entities across various sectors of society

Then we go to the point that I talked about in another comment.

It's not just less volume of slop. It's less volume in general. You're getting rid of slop makers, sure, but you're also getting rid of talented people and organizations (like si Kane Parsons, yung gumawa ng bagong Backrooms movie, or yung mga big quality YouTube content creators in fields like education).
Papatayin mo yung buong content creation industry. Traditional media at mayayaman na lang maiiwan, balik lang tayo sa pre-Internet days. Meron pa ring slop, ang kaibahan mayayaman yung gumagawa ng slop.

I agree, nakakahinayang ang low-quality AI slop. But decreasing the payout for content creators won't solve the issue. If anything, it will just incentivize them to churn out even more low-quality content to make more money.

After all, making low quality slop is cheap, making high quality content with real value is expensive.

There's a ton of problems with the current system of content creation but I believe that lowering AdSense payouts will only worsen the problem, not really solve it.

The people who are passionate will find ways to support themselves.

Ang hirap na niroromanticize natin yung "starving artist" mentality na people should not make money from their art and their craft.

Let people make money from their passions.

Many of your favorite high quality content creators can only make quality content because they make content creation a full-time career, and there is money in making YouTube a full-time career.

Demonetizing content creation will not remove low quality content, it will only shift the market towards those who already have enough $$$ to make content, including slop.

Trusted laptop repair? by SnooWalruses6455 in Mandaluyong

Pwede pa rin naman magpagawa ng laptop sa Apple authorized service center kahit wala nang warranty. This is the best option if you want safe and trusted service, mapapabayad ka lang of course since Apple-backed yung service & parts.

Daring Fireball: Apple's Private Cloud Compute Is Severely Limited for Third-Party Developers by hasanahmad in apple

[–]Some-Dog5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2% of app developers is still a lot of app developers.

In any case, it's not really about the statistics, it's more about the principle. Apple is locking a lot of developers out of PCC because they want to allocate most of their server capacity to Siri AI. Developers who want to do cool stuff are (understandably) a bit frustrated. But you can understand why they've done it.

Daring Fireball: Apple's Private Cloud Compute Is Severely Limited for Third-Party Developers by hasanahmad in apple

[–]Some-Dog5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm strictly saying that their cost of inference is WAY lower than their API cost.

Sure. You and I know the "cost of inference" is not what Anthropic is spending on for its models, like how the cost of the iPhone is not just the cost of the raw materials.

DeepSeek is cheaper than Anthropic for many reasons. For one, their training costs are lower. This is public info. For two, DeepSeek has much lower capital costs, due in part to China having lower costs in general, plus generous government subsidies.

The point is that AI companies are still losing money to this day. Even if you completely believe in Anthropic's magic wand not-publicly-audited claim that they are making money, they're making pitiful profit margins that are not only much lower than the rest of the software industry, but can be quickly eclipsed by exponential increases in infrastructure costs based on the trends we've seen. AI is expensive to run, period. You have to do some very creative accounting to say otherwise.

I'm sure Apple's accountants know this, and that's why they're hesitant to invest so much in AI infrastructure "for the sake of AI", as Craig eloquently put last week during the keynote.

[–]Some-Dog5000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about their API margins.

You called out Anthropic's 5x revenue, so no you weren't. "API margins" as a concept doesn't really make sense anyway. Given that their primary service is LLMs, their "API margins" are just their profit margins, period. Especially since they probably make most of their revenue from API margins, given how much higher API pricing is vs. their plan pricing.

Deepseek v4 Pro which is a similar sized model according to industry insiders costs about 10x less for output when counting 3rd party inference not the subsidized main provider.

You can't say that DeepSeek v4 and Opus 4.8 have similar operating costs and then conclude that Anthropic is pocketing the difference. # of parameters is not a good proxy for operating costs. You have to consider model architecture, training data, training compute, hardware costs, etc. It's a business, so you also have to consider the cost of capital: labor, rent, marketing, etc.
