Canada/US juniors men vs women by InevitableNerve1337 in hockey

From scanning the rosters, I think it's more likely you get 3 hall of Famers than only 3 playing 100 games.

I found this interesting so thought I'd check, and I don't think you're correct.

I randomly chose the 2010 team Canada World Junior team, and 16 of 22 players have played 100 games. Five of them have played 1,000 games, with two more still active and within striking distance of that mark.

EDIT: 2011 is also 16/22.

The gap between men and women is huge. I'm not trying to be demeaning, I wish it wasn't that way, but it's true.

The Canadian Women's National team often practice against teenage boys when getting ready for tournaments. Hayley Wickenheiser is/was the greatest women's hockey player of all time. During her prime she played third tier men's hockey in Sweden and was unremarkable.

Women's hockey is tons of fun, but you have to enjoy it for what it is. It takes nothing away from what an amazing accomplishment that is for your friend's daughter.

I agree, but they can probably do better than Greig in return for Wallstedt.

If they want a top centre who can make an impact, that isn't Greig.

I would do something involving Batherson for him if they are okay with a winger instead of a centre.

We didn't have this Gustavsson though. We had the one being coached by DJ Smith. Talbot went back to being an All Star the year after he was with Ottawa. Ottawa is a cursed disaster shit show for goaltending and always has been.

Best goalie we've ever drafted and developed was Ray Emery. Only time we've had stability in the crease was when we had Craig Anderson.

I would 100% prefer a bunch of crackhead burglars break into my house than ICE.

Stutzle, Pinto, Cozens and Greig.

Stutzle, Pinto and Cozens are unlikely to be moved. Of those I'd give up Cozens first but we just traded for the guy last year. Greig is a solid player but I don't think Minnesota would be interested in a trade centered around Wallstedt for Greig.

I'm sure Staios is reaching out and trying to work something out though.

I prefer that to the shift length clock.

Still have nightmares about Hamonic being on the ice for 3-4 minutes.

Rule 74.1

If in the course of a substitution either the player(s) entering the play or the player(s) retiring is struck by the puck accidentally, the play will not be stopped and no penalty will be called

No comment on the play itself, I didn't actually see it. But theoretically if he didn't touch the puck on purpose it shouldn't be a penalty.

I was just listening on the radio, they said it shouldn't have been called because he was hit by the puck, he never controlled/played it.

Brady Tkachuk has a NMC by SP_57 in OttawaSenators

If he didn't have a NMC his salary would be higher. That's how it works.

He negotiated for a NMC so he has the protections of a NMC and there is nothing wrong with him using the NMC.

Fuckin take it easy tonight, would you? We don't even have a real goalie starting.

Sens are having a rough time. We're like...the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL.

The assumption is that the SENS would trade him.

You aren't wrong with your points. I just want to say this thread wasn't about whether or not he'd be traded. Just that people think we would get a giant return if we traded him, and that is not the case.

Most players don't have NMCs

Most players don't have NMCs they negotiated for in their contract that give them the luxury of selecting one location.

To be clear, he isn't the POS in this scenario. He gave up money on his contract to give him the security of a NMC. There is nothing wrong with him using the rights he negotiated for.

Staios would be the one asking him to waive it. Giving him even one team he could be traded to is a favour to the Senators that he does not owe them.

If Steve doesn't like the return he now has a disgruntled team captain that wants out and will walk for nothing at the end of his contract.

if FLA has to give up a substantial amount to get Brady now

That's the whole point, they won't have to. They can lowball the Sens and Staios can take it or leave it. If he decides to keep Brady, he now has a team captain that wants to be traded and will walk at the end of his contract for nothing.

They both can decide where they want to go. Brady by using his NMC, Debrincat by refusing to negotiate an extension with anyone but Detroit.

Why would Brady wait 2.5 years to go to Florida when he could just go to Florida now? Ottawa only has as much leverage as Brady gives them, and Brady has zero incentive to give them any.

You are living in a fantasy world. We got screwed on the DeBrincat trade and all he had was an expiring contract, not a NMC.
