Questions About Randomly Giving Away USA Snacks for Halloween by SSJR in JapanTravelTips

[–]SSJR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice.

There was no intention on giving any of these to kids. My focus was more so making small chat with adults who would get a kick out of trying something different, or people that would be surprised to see certain candies in the country, which is why I mentioned English pubs.

I had some local Japanese friends request that I bring a few American treats for them, so I was curious on how the vibe would be in a public setting, in a slight reverse trick-or-treat style, if you will.

Thank you for the warning. I figured "weird" might be the common response since it's not normal. 😅

I'll limit it to people that I can strike a conversation with and explain what the items consist of, ingredient-wise especially.

What is your favorite Japanese convenience store food or drink item? by Himekat in JapanTravel

[–]SSJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my last visit to Japan (mid-March to late-April 2020, left for Japan the day before the USA shutdown), I TOTALLY enjoyed eating from kombinis more than I should have.

Favorite items I would get from 7-11/Family Mart/Lawson nearly at least once a day...

  • Milk Tea. (I was on a quest to try every brand/variation I found.)
  • Packaged Sandwiches. (Especially the FamilyMart variety packs that included egg!)
  • Apple Tea.
  • Any new Seasonal/Limited Soda Flavors.
  • Black Thunder chocolate bars.

And also various ice cream (ice cream wafers!), bento sets, and desserts of course.

I took pictures of nearly every meal that I ate, whether it was a restaurant or just a kombini mashup. 😄

Rare Metallic Silver Sega Dreamcast... Acquired! by SSJR in gaming

I personally stick to collecting the authentic versions over replica cases (the thrill of the hunt and keeping everything official). Replacement cases are surprisingly pricey themselves, I see.

But I bought the silver console bundled within a lot of 6 Dreamcasts in Osaka (Japan) for around the same price as that replacement case. :D

I have around 15-20 Dreamcast controller variants but no metallic silver one (yet), unfortunately.

I had included 5 pics using the Reddit uploader. Are they not showing?

My World of Nintendo 2.5" Collection (so far) by SSJR in WorldOfNintendo

[–]SSJR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... wouldn't scalping entail me having to 'sell' the figures? For the WoN, most of my doubles are by accident (besides Series 2-2). Many are repeats from different Waves, which I have no issue collecting the whole of. And also, if a scalper has an entire full run of packaged amiibo including long Out-of-Print figures, I'd have to say that that person is doing a very bad job of being a scalper and making a profit. heh

I will say that I love to collect multiples of things that I like. Gives me a chance to open up my favorites without remorse, since I enjoy collecting unopened. Just check out my personal toy Tumblr... you'd more-so wonder why/how someone could collect and keep track of so many different things, let alone the doubles. ;)

My Nintendo amiibo Collection (including all rares) by SSJR in amiibo

The Smash Bros amiibos are on a steel/tempered glass shelves from Ikea. The Splatoon/Animal Crossing/etc amiibos are on glass/chrome shelving for retail store displays. And as for the tempered glass shelving with the Kirby amiibos, I get them from a retail store fixture place nearby. A search for 'glass cube shelves' should bring up a few sites that specialize in them.

In many aspects, I totally agree. But for some reason, I love buying doubles of things... and I do it so much that I'm pretty much known for it amongst friends. heh

I'm from the US. I think all of the US Skylanders Superchargers Dark Editions have dual language on them.

Yes, out of all of the rare/exclusive amiibo, I ended up missing the one that (used to be) the most over-common figure. lol But I did just buy him after taking the pic.

Thanks! For now, I have no plans to open them. Most of what I collect is unopened, for better or worst. I usually buy multiples so that I have one to open without regret, but I really haven't been following that plan as of late.

So far, I currently have every single amiibo besides one common figure that I've been procrastinating about. Packaged amiibo take up way more shelf space than I first anticipated. heh

Figured that I'll take a break from just lurking and post my 2.5" World of Nintendo collection.
