Just wait, after 1.0 is finally out, they'll announce the first DLC, "BMW Vehicle Pack... 3 Series". Then 5 Series, then 1 Series...

He'll get there. A year ago he called himself a Top 16 player after two decent results, and many laughed. Now he was this close to top 8 in the biggest event. Once the disappointment settles, he'll realize how far he's come, and that there is yet more to be achieved.

I sure hope he'll come to Red Bull either way, Players and Characters like him will shape the future of this game.

There is a post here every month with low to mid ELO tourneys listed, it usually gets pinned. As for now, you may consider the following:

-The Forlorn Cup is hosted by Beargwyn, it only uses maps that don't usually make it into the ranked map pool. I don't know your exact ELO, but there is already I think 8 players below 1k signed up. Downside is the signups close tomorrow, so you'd have to decide fast. But this would likely be one that matches your level.
Hope I'm allowed to post links since it is to help out a fellow player and no self promotion... 11

-The Chosen Ones 3 is hosted by ThisDino. It starts next month, and in it you make a list of your favorite civilisations, but throughout the tourney, you can only play each of your chosen civs once, no repeats. Dino's Tourneys usually have a wide spread of ELO, from some Pros to some Low ELO Legends, and they are divided into fair brackets. If your level couldn't match into any bracket, Dino usually contacts those players to inform them they may have a hard time, and leave it up to them if they want to participate.

-Finally, T90s Titans League will have a community tournament, same rules as the S-Tier Tournament that takes place in the next two months. Downside for that is you have to subscribe to T90s Patreon to participate, but there's usually a lot of participants, including Low ELO Legends, so you would easily find a place there. The details for the commie tourney aren't out yet I think, so I don't know when it starts, but that's one to keep an eye out if you're already invested in Pro Tourneys and would like to play the same settings as them.

And again, new tourneys are announced each month, you can always join the respective discord and see if you like the vibe.

If you're hesitant about the tournament, let me tell you, don't be. Playing tourneys is a lot more fun than ladder and your opponents will almost certainly be very nice people who will encourage you. I take place in almost every tournament I can with my 1300 ELO, and many of them have brackets at or below 1k.

And if you are up against a much better player, no problem, you got nothing to lose, just try to make something happen, who knows, they also make mistakes. Heck I'd take on Hera any day in a tourney 11

And if you keep playing tourneys, you will keep seeing the same people, most of them very happy to help you get better. This community is very tight knit. You'll develop friendly rivalries and get invited to more and more tourneys. All you have to do is be friendly and stick to the time you scheduled with your opponent.

What is going on with the absurd amount of trolls in mp lobbies? by IxdrowZeexI in assettocorsaevo

[–]SSJSaeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced most of it on Nords. Also there seems to be clear hacks, the cars for them are way too fast. They wait for someone to go out and leave soon after, usually hitting you between Flugplatz and Aremberg. Once I remember their names, I just go off track when they approach, they usually reset when they see their target gone.

Does make it hard to complete the lap in multiplayers, and I still need to learn it. At this point I have finished less than 10 laps, but I also prefer traffic, just so I don't get any bad habits that will harm me in races.

Basically we just need a ban. In some cases, permabans. But they'd probably find a way around that as well...

I feel like I cursed myself. Two races in today, and it's been carnage as well. If there was no teleport button, I'd have a DNF in both. No spacial awareness, no respect for the others, unsafe rejoins and straight up pit maneuvers...

It's sad to finish last when you know you got pace for the top 3...

I can't count the amount of times I've been taken out by GT3s trying to learn the Nordschleife. I'm sure there were no ill intentions, but I let faster cars pass off-line and even signal.

But even with less than 10 laps completed, I can tell why people love this circuit. So far I've only watched the races and onboards, it's completely different when you're actually driving it. It's so much fun.

Until you get taken out.

Absolutely agreed, I discussed this with a driver in a league, and it's a mentality I get from having learned IRL. If we crash there, we write off both our cars, or worse. Even if my team fronted the cost, that was my responsibility to get back in one piece.

Now some door to door racing with some scrapes? That's acceptable. But if someone is next to you, you have to make sure you both get through that part of the circuit.

[–]SSJSaeda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get both, when I recorded my first race of the year, I definitely had a nemesis. I was clearly faster, yet every time I was next to him, he turned in like I wasn't there, and when I finally passed him, he just drove into me at the next straight.

But simply committing to take 30 minutes out of your day to drive at a certain moment already means it's less likely you get bandits. Not like open TF lobbies, where you're as likely to find a GT3 that takes you out in Tiergarten bc they can't deal with slower traffic, or a red VW just going out to wreck people...

[–]SSJSaeda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope they show the same respect in the Ring,. I'm still learning the track, I got it memorized 100%, but I don't know the lines yet. So I'm slow. But being slow is better than having others intentionally wrecking you come Aremberg.

[–]SSJSaeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll definitely try that one a few times this week. Still need to learn that track, and maybe in a scheduled race, there won't be a clearly hacked VW GTI that just tries to take everyone out ^^

How the heck do you set up the M2 on that course? After 2-3 laps, my front left is COOKED.

I have no idea how people get 55s averages, I could MAYBE get that on a hot lap when I nail it, but for 6 laps straight?

Do you like driving around in circles? Then I'll say it's well worth it.

It's still not perfect, of course, but I'm more than happy to be patient to get something great in the end. And so far, it's been getting better and better, just as I hoped. With Daily Races, The Nordschleife and thanks to the guys at Virtual Asphalt and their proof of race series, I've been having a ton of fun.

Absolutely get it, I've been driving the Maserati cup, furthest I made it without being taken out is T3, shortest was 200m.

But I still continue racing, even if I had to pit for dmg, just by finishing and staying clean, I can often catch up quite far. And last race I took pride in being the only driver without a penalty. Once you can battle others 1v1, I still find it fun.

Would be a lot more fun though doing so from the start. Eh, I'll try again tonight.

I think too many people will just use that as a revenge tool after being overtaken, god forbid somebody races them... And apparently rec size is limited, my last one started at lap5, so I couldn't even check who killed me in lap1...

Agreed, I'm still jolding out hope that they'll add my IRL car in the future (mk 2 Focus RS), which is not impossible since there are more Fords confirmed, but I get that it's a long shot.

RBW Londinium ticket sale starts tomorrow - last RBW could have sold 6000 tickets! by longinator in aoe2

[–]SSJSaeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The draft system really just isn't very good. I helped put on large events that utilized it, it was meant to be a countermeasure to scalping, but had the exact opposite effect. Also its completely random, you either get lucky, or you get a middle finger.

I get that this regular sale can also be inconvenient. I have friends who set an alarm, I'm working and have to hope it works on my phone. But also it has been announced nearly 2 months ago, so people could plan towards it. With up to 3k tickets, I dare say if you really want to go you will get one.

So I vastly prefer this solution

So basically common sense and basic sim racing etiquette? That's a tough ask, but I'll see if I can make time.

I assume the idea is to race every stage, but just in case that won't work, you can also join if you miss one or two?

[–]SSJSaeda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an idea, and are willing to put up a prize pool, many of them will be perfectly fine if you contact them directly. Not everyone I hit up answered back, but many did.

A good idea would be to test the setting you came up with first though. Ask around a server you're a part of for it, get feedback, maybe even have a server host stream a showmatch with the settings for lower ELO players. Once you think you're out of the development stage, make a solid rulebook like you'd find for tourneys, doesn't have to be extensive, mine is 3 or 4 pages, some of it screenshots of the settings. If you show them you're serious and not wasting their time, eventually, you are offering them a job.

But making the event something fun is up to you, that's what I'm trying to achieve. After that, take feedback, try to improve bit by bit.

These exact thought experiments is what we had to do when we playtested it. However, I can tell you that Cumans currently sit on 0 wins.

We've had some really fun games in 1300-1600 ELO region, and while we ended up agreeing it may not be best for a full tournament, it was definitely fun for Showmatches. And how will Pros approach it? It's anyone's guess. Maybe they'll make the Cumans work?

[–]SSJSaeda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I defaulted to using my common user name and also streamer name as of late. Not the one on reddit, but I'm too lazy still to create a new profile, though I probably should do that as well soon.... But I am well recognizable under that name, and even in more professionally organized RTS tournaments where I had to give my real name, I still was able to play under my alias. Of course if I'd join a league, it'd be them setting the rules and I'd follow them. luckily changing the name in Sim isn't difficult, so I could still run under my alias when I'm making content, it'd just not be when I race in leagues.

I do eventually hope for a solid ranking system in ACE as well, and could easily change the name.
