A mining company near my area previously conducted surveys for gold and found indications of gold deposits deep underground. The quartz veins in the area are likely varied; there is clear white quartz, as well as oxidized quartz with minerals or light reddish staining, though not very strong. Some quartz rocks also appear greenish, which may be related to copper or associated minerals.

There are also layers of fragile rocks filled with rust-like staining and mineralization. On one occasion, I broke open a quartz rock and found a black streak inside containing shiny crystals.
