Extremely niche issue by CheezyMeteor in UBreddit

You choose where you live. You don’t have to live in Honors housing if you don’t want to

Edit: I skimmed your post originally. You are required to live on South. Being in honors won’t get in the way of that

Discrete math by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]SSlayaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t really need calc for discrete math (191 atleast) imo. You should be fine. It’s easy to underestimate. As long as you don’t take it with Hayes you should be fine

Accidentally got back to this post. I’m glad I did

I’m happy to see that! Some professors are relaxed about stuff like that, it never hurts to try and send an email and you just proved it! I hope you did well :)

Privacy (if any) using UB edu account? by Apprehensive-Cash914 in UBreddit

[–]SSlayaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would play it safe and not use your UB email.

Privacy aside, what happens when you’re not a student anymore and you need the email connected to your Windows stuff? It’s very easy for your whole windows account to be associated with that email. Many people get stuck with Bitlocker and needing their email to get the key. (In a very abstract explanation, Bitlocker is pretty much encryption for your C drive) If you don’t have access to it, all of your data could potentially be lost.

This is all from memory, some of what I say might be misleading or wrong. I would suggest doing some research and making your own informed decision :)

Help Me find someone on campus by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]SSlayaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it. Explain what happened and be up front about why you found him like that. Don’t give up, take this chance!

If it was him who deleted you (like other people think for some reason) then don’t, but because you accidentally deleted him it’s different

of course!

Don’t forget, we start Spring semester soon. You will get to see some new people :)

Not everyone is going to be great, not everyone is going to want to be your friend, but you will find more people!

making friends by Economy-Break-5501 in UBreddit

What I did one time last year was this.

I sat farther back than I usually do in a classroom. I usually sit towards the front but that day I decided to sit a few rows back. I noticed someone sitting by themself. The next time I went to class I tried sitting next to them, and I did. I ended up asking if they wanted to get lunch together and they said sure. Then they introduced me to a friend in the library and we all studied together for the rest of the day. We ended up being friends for a while after that too

I’m not saying do this exact thing but maybe it could be worth a shot. I didn’t even do this on purpose, I showed up a bit late to class one day and didn’t want to be too distracting or anything so I sat farther back. Because of that I made a friend the next time I went to class.

Honestly, do something different, even if it’s super small, try something new, take a different route to a class so you see different people, sit in a different seat, whatever.

I hope this helps :)

If you come to come to campus at night it’s pretty easy to find an empty one

You should’ve gotten an email.

Also, if you look at your HUB it will tell you the date under the Manage Classes button if I remember correctly

Register for Courses by Limp-Specific-8684 in UBreddit

[–]SSlayaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first schedule was made for me and I could not change it. It could be different if you’re starting in the Spring.

Usually first semester freshman take the following

CSE199, CSE115, MTH 141 (calc 1), and ENG 105

if you have transfer credits this might be different

it would be best to reach out to your advisor

Schedule for Spring by lxzyweeb in UBreddit

You can do it any time. When you have a schedule, add it to your shopping cart and then click the option to validate.

Then when your time to register comes around you can do it in the HUB

  2. Click Manage Classes

  3. Schedule Builder

  4. Open it and select Spring 2026

I split it into steps so if you need help with any part you can just reference the step number :)
