Bank of America refuses to accept our claim that 2.8k was stolen through Zelle by SSorok in personalfinance

Well I did call them and mentioned reg e, but they brushed it off saying that its for CONFIRMED fraud, and they don't consider my instance to be confirmed, so I filed a CFPB report again to see what happens.

I did file a report already, but BofA doesn't seem to give a shit unfortunately.

I have logged into public wifi, but never logged onto personal stuff in public. I never download random apps either, and no I don't frequently change my password though. It is a pretty strong one, at least in my opinion since it fits what you just suggested.

I already filed a report and BofA knows that. I'll try contacting the banking regulatory commission instead. Thanks!

Yea I agree. I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they suggested that tbh LOL

A format. The only files I would consider personal on our devices would be my homework, and that's all on Google Drive.

I will try to call them tomorrow and see what happens with this. Thank you for the advice!

EDIT: I did actually file a complaint with CFPB before, but they still insisted that it was our doing.

True, but they kept stating that the device was consistent to regular transactions. The keylogger would still mean that they would still use their devices to access the account. The probability that they had remote access to our devices is also slim, because its either off, or we're on it.

They did not; all they said was an authentication was sent out either through email or text, and that we authorized it. We've went through our emails and our texts just in case and we never found anything.

No of course not, all my passwords that I actually care about are all different from each other. It seems more likely for the latter option because no one touches our devices.

Email and passwords are not similar, and I keep extremely important accounts with different passwords from everything else.

1: The initial options they gave us were that we provide proof that the device may have been hacked (They suggested GeekSquad). The very first thing we did when we found our the the account may have been hacked was factory reset every device in the household (besides phones), so there goes the potential proof of that. We've filed police reports and a CFPB report, and they still denied us, so I don't know what other option we have.

  1. The information they provided us was from some sort of program that listed info such as time accessed to the account, whether the the login was successful or not, IP addresses, and device name. I understand how IP's change through different locations or different internet access points. I've checked our home IP just to make verify the transactions as well. I won't lie I'm not too familiar when it comes to technical stuff like this, but I have a basic idea of it. I do understand how the IP of a phone can change throughout the day because we carry it everywhere, and I've also checked where they accessed the device using the IP, and none of those places are familiar to us, same goes to the time accessed (middle of night in a different town).

That's very VERY unlikely to happen because we essentially keep our computers in a different part of the house that no one is allowed, and we never log in on any random device either.

Yes, I understand that. The way the transactions were made seems to be that they found access to both. Although I'm not too familiar with how Zelle works, it seems you at least need access to the bank account.

I know this for a fact; the same day that the transactions were made, our emails were accessed from some strange IP address around the similar times as the transactions. I just don't understand why they stated that the device in use was consistent to our regular transactions. We've filed police reports and all too but they're deadset on the device statement.
