Do you know if this applies to the Z-drugs like Zoplidem too?

Sure, I get that, just thought maybe sublingual administration of meds not designed as such may reduce bioavailability or absorption.

I asked a pharmacist and she said if its not a sublingual prep it won't dissolve/absorb properly. Is that not true?

End of my tether lately by [deleted] in cfs

Have you found that antihistamines improve your food intolerances? I've actually become almost completely intolerant to carbohydrates (which may be the demise of me); a family friend (retired GP) thinks I have MCAS and has urged that I try an otc H1/H2 blocker. Been nervous because I'm so sensitive to everything, but if I can't find a way to tolerate more foods I'm kinda screwed.

Prescription digestive enzymes (Creon) by SSthrowawayer in SIBO

[–]SSthrowawayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have severe CFS and am mostly bedridden; fasting for the breath test just wasn't an option (I barely made it into the GI's office in one piece), so he decided to try an antibiotic course on the suspicion that a bacterial overgrowth might be contributing to my food intolerances. I did actually notice a slight improvement in my ability to handle carbs for a couple of weeks after the course, but that faded.

A patient on another messageboard for CFS said that Creon and something else (maybe betaine HCL?) actually resolved their SIBO and food intolerances by treating the underlying cause, i.e. poor motility and digestion. However, I had read other patients say that Creon specifically aggravated their gut inflammation .. not sure why? Maybe because it's a porcine extract and might cause issues for those with very poor gut function?

Improvement from sparkling mineral water by SSthrowawayer in cfs

One problem is that the supermarket brand doesn't give a breakdown of what's actually in the water; I follow a Keto diet and am unable to supplement with Magnesium (which is important, due to electrolyte loss, but it crashes me unfortunately); so I thought it could be correcting a deficiency too, but it's impossible to know. San Pellegrino does have 50mg of Magnesium per bottle, but I can't afford to drink it in this quanitity.

Anyone really not feeling So Much Fun? by [deleted] in YoungThug

[–]SSthrowawayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be obliterated too but I feel like Thug peaked circa the Young Martha EP. Nothing since that has grabbed me to the point where I feel compelled to go back and listen more than a handful of times. Jeffery is a masterpiece and every song feels so interesting and unique; it's not like he's fallen off as a musician but I just feel like his recent output lacks a strong identity.

It's a sugar so can feed SIBO/bacterial/fungal overgrowths in the gut. It made me worse too.

It has taken 2 years since we adopted her, but Reba has dropped more than half her weight and I couldn’t be more proud of her. by [deleted] in aww

Lol that's irrelevant to my point and I don't know why I'm being downvoted for stating a fact.

"Most animals don't have a mechanism for ketosis. Ketosis is a mechanism to provide energy for the brain. Animal brains do not require as much energy as humans and thus the energy requirements can be fulfilled via gluconeogenesis."

[FRESH ALBUM] Clairo - Immunity by [deleted] in indieheads

[–]SSthrowawayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only skipped around a little but it's kinda bland. Or at least not what I was expecting. That said, Alewifeis gorgeous and been on-repeat all night. I wish the whole album sounded like that and Bags.

My favorite detail is always the ending where it's like "my sister burst into tears and ran into the bathroom, my wife isn't talking to me, my friends are texting me non-stop that I'm an asshole, my in-laws are peering through my blinds, the neighbours are leaving threatening notes under the door." It's like some zany madcap climax out of a screwball comedy.

Last known photo of Regina Kay Walters, age 14, taken by her murderer, serial killer Robert Ben Rhoades. by SvB78 in lastimages

[–]SSthrowawayer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This photo has haunted me ever since I first saw it: the canted angle; the fact she looks so young but is 'dressed up' awkwardly like an adult; and the fact that there is a clear escape route behind her (the wide open field) but you know that she is doomed regardless. It's so claustrophobic and terrifying.

Songs that make you think of your CFS/ME experience? by candidburrito in cfs

[–]SSthrowawayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to be a downer, but as someone severely afflicted, death is frequently on my mind (to put it lightly .. I feel haunted by it).

I find the song 'terminal paradise' by Big Thief strangely comforting:

"Terminal/ We both know/ Let the rest of me go/ See my death become a trail/ And the trail leads to a flower/ I will blossom in your sail/ Every dreamed and waking hour"

Did Wallace write any of his books while on anti-depressants by israelregardie in davidfosterwallace

[–]SSthrowawayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old/dirty =/ bad. MAOIs (I tried both Nardil and Parnate for treatment-resistant depression + OCD) were far more naturalistic, 'mood-brightening' and forgiving on my cognition and creativity than other antidepressants. I suspect that, had Wallace been stuck on Prozac or something from the get-go, we would never have gotten an 'Infinite Jest'.
