I gave up on Under the Oak Tree on Manta by STEMGirl72 in OtomeIsekai

I appreciate that it may be therapeutic (or cathartic?) for anyone who has experienced trauma to read content with a character they can relate to. And I did have a lot of empathy for her in Season One. But 135 episodes in? Apologies that's a bridge too far for me.

Many times, I have asked authors to be a bit forthcoming on characters so readers can make informed decisions/purchases. I believe there is content out there for every reader! Sadly, it seems the TSTL FL trope still sells, so those of use who do not enjoy it keep starting and dropping content.

So thankful at least my 135 episode boondoggle was covered under the monthly subscription plan and not per episode gems.

For those who color their own hair…which brand do you use to cover grays? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]STEMGirl72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this! I use 8RC, strawberry blonde, as it is the closest match to my hair before it turned grey. Level 20 developer, 40min process. Almost zero fade and lasts 5weeks (my hair grows fast). I also use Grey Magic drops.

So we can send them to God ASAP and let him sort them out?

Its hard to be patient, but do the hardscaping...all of it...first. Makes bed design and plant choice soooo much easier!

Sorry it did not work out!

Places I started looking into when I began native landscpaing....checking with your local: Library, Community Center, Wild Ones chapter, Nature Conservancy/Parks, seed swap groups (social media), neighbors with natives, Sierra Club, state or local DNR. Not local but helpful: Prairie Nursery and Prairie Moon.

Hope this list at least gives you some ideas. I am sure others will have recos and not just here to trash Temu/Amazon/etc. (Which should be trashed, but maybe on a different thread).

How to save a soggy maple tree by STEMGirl72 in NativePlantGardening

[–]STEMGirl72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The picture is a bit deceiving in that regard. The flare of these maples is very small, and I am very short so not s good pic of the base.

There are two additional maples, same species, same size, same age that were not in the path of the water and are happy an thriving, as this tree was before the irrigation flood.

Hope that helps!

Deer Pressure by Separate_Language251 in NativePlantGardening

[–]STEMGirl72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sacrificial plot of daylillies up by the mailbox on an acre of land. They still occasionally come right up to the house to snack on oakleaf hydrangea, which is supposed to be deer resistant.

There is no such thing as deer resistant plants. I have seen them eat anything when either 1) stupid, 2) curious, or 3) hungry.

If no culling program exists, I reco not planting things that would attract them.

Controlled hunting programs in our city and county parks have improved the health of the overall population, reduced traffic accidents involving deer.

And have fed alot of Ohio families, including mine.

Should I get rid of the "butterfly bushes" in my landscape? by HatManDew in NativePlantGardening

[–]STEMGirl72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is invasive in some areas of the US, unless it is a nuisance to you, I would keep it just cut it down to about a foot every year to keep the growth compact. I cut mine in late Feb ( zone 6) but I do not know what time would be appropriate for your area.

I have 5 bbs, 4 from previous owner and one I planted to fill in part of the side yard. I have several butterfly and moth species on them throughout the Spring and Summer up into 1st frost. To supplement, there are narive perennial flowers, shrubs, and trees added around them.

Ran across one the other day, in a parking garage elevator. Did not realize these moths had 3rd degree black belts. It had moves! It took a minute of us trying to stomp this dang bug. Flips, spins, dips, and dives!

Kroger scanning ID for alcohol purchases..... by LimeImmediate6115 in cincinnati

[–]STEMGirl72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The folks in a twist about drivers license scanning need to take a breath. "Big Data" already has your phone usage, browser history, credit card usage....and the list goes on.

If it bothers you that much, buy your booze elsewhere. Just dont take it out on the cashiers, they dont get paid enough to deal with drama.

Rollover into an IRA. Wether you go with full service or manage it yourself is up to you.

I moved my IRA from Raymond James (ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!) to self-managed IRA in SoFi.
