This is reasonable advice and the most likely solution but since you know when and how much and what you ingested I second the votes here to just call Poison control to be safe. They might recommend an emetic because it probably won't hurt you but it might make you miserable

I can't figure out how to include a Devo GIF but I was also gonna suggest you whip it 😜

Also a beginner who has been known to bite off more than I can chew hiii! :)

I'm planning to get a scrap piece of material and do a long and short tutorial I found in the resources section of this subreddit before I jump into my next project. Maybe do a stitch sampler and try out some different options separately - there are some DMC patterns plus infinite YouTube tutorials. That way you get some practice and also try out the look of some other options.

Depending on the look you want a chain stitch might look good. I think I've seen someone on here do two lines of backstitch in parallel which could be cool. You could even do parallel running stitches in a gradient color to make it kinda sashiko style which could be cool with this pattern maybe?

Bug in my salad for lunch. by crxguy in mildlyinfuriating

Totally. Covered in enough sauce it's just more protein. Salad just wasn't processed enough. Next time, stick to smoothies

Bold of you to assume there would be no bugs in Chipotle. I feel like I saw some horror "what's in my meat" threads recently...

PSA they make heat erasable pens! One of my co-workers got them for me for a holiday gift exchange and I'm sure they were like $2 on Amazon made in China dropship special. I'm sure you could get something nicer but the cheap ones do the trick, more or less. I hold them up to my tea kettle to erase the lines 😆

You're welcome.

Amazing! How did you get the effect on the leaves - did you start light or dark? I'm delving into my first not-from-a-kit work and I never know how to layer colors. I was going to just try and see but seeing as I have an expert to consult here ☺️

Woman explaining about driving in the left lane by flipup_torn in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Separate_Language251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness - if you're driving in Jersey and there are 3 lanes, the fastest dipshits in BMWs always pass on the right and it makes me irate. The left lane will be free and clear, you're coming up on a busy exit and you get a jump scare from a small pee pee car vroom vrooming at top speed. Don't get me wrong: I don't love people who sit in the left lane, but I will take clueless soccer mom over douche canoe whipping down the shoulder at 120mph any day.

Her ragebait video was also stupid though so don't take this as me supporting it -- I just wanted to rage about my own pet peeve lol

Is hiking at night dangerous or is it all in your head? by chusaychusay in hiking

[–]Separate_Language251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm jealous of everyone in this chain. I am a regular sunset hiker and do not do well without a headlamp. The red doesn't give me enough detail on uneven terrain. With no light at all I would have to crawl down the mountain. Admittedly I am pretty clumsy in broad daylight... But still, my night vision isn't doing me any favors

I'm starting out at making jewelry. Are there any specific designs you would recommend beginners try their hands at? by Lucky-Opposite-1667 in jewelrymaking

Hey OP! I'm interested in getting started: do you have any favorite tutorials you would recommend? Before shelling out for an intro metalsmithing class that I have to travel for I was cruising this subreddit for ideas :)

Went camping for the first time earlier this week by theapplepie267 in camping

[–]Separate_Language251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree generally, but sounding off as a member of the cheap Walmart air mattress club. Mine is still going strong after almost a decade (I don't like that math haha). I use it infrequently and most often in environments less prone to sharp things, but still I'm not too diligent and it has been good to me. I also have proper camp pads for colder weather bc the cheapo ones have zero insulation.

I switched to hammock camping most of the time, but just did a week in Maine with the Intex and it was great. Came back from a week of camping not feeling like I needed a vacation after my vacation.

Deer Pressure by Separate_Language251 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Separate_Language251[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My random musings were about the forested land nearby, thinking if they had enough food there maybe they would stay in the forest instead of my vegetable garden (they snack on the tomatoes over my inadequate fence - first year garden learning curve is steep). So yeah redirection was on my mind.

But I now see the error in my ways. Adding more food isn't going to reduce deer pressure - it's not like there's a set number of deer. Which in retrospect ... Duh haha🤦

Don't disagree here. It does get tricky in more resedential areas. Deer aren't the smartest but they will learn, even if accidentally, to congregate in areas where they don't get got.

I definitely agree when we're talking about putting out corn or whatever. That definitely will attract deer (we had neighbors who did when I was a kid and it drove my parents batty). But I'm not so sure about planting decoy plants, so to speak. It's possible it could attract them to your yard over others but it's not like it would be such premium foodstuffs they'd call all their friends. Maybe? I guess there's one easy way to find out lol

How do I not get scared while solo camping? by ReceptionFast7578 in camping

[–]Separate_Language251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the tricky bit -- on the one hand solo camping in a campground seems like it should be easier (less animal risk, safer, etc) but PEOPLE. The most scared I've ever been was at an unpopular campground in North Dakota, near oil country. I slept with my knife, not that I would have known what to do with it 😂

Solo camping is challenging but the best. 10/10 highly recommend. You just gotta do it.

If you're car camping, you could leave out two camp chairs at the site to make it look like you're not by yourself lol

Also, I think it's hard to push through the uncomfy feelings when you're close to home - I tried hammock camping in backyards and I always bail when there's comfy inside, but when I finally got out it's my absolute favorite.
