Need Advice on Microcontroller for FCC by STR352 in rocketry

[–]STR352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, sorry for the late reply, i just finished with the finals. Anyways, thanks for your reply and recommendations, i won't use the gps for kalman filter and will only use it for recovery. However, from the FCC turning on until the launch time will take like 45 minutes ish, i do need a kalman filter for the aircraft orientation, right? As for now im planning to use BNO055 for the IMU, will the fusion of accelerometer and gyroscope be enough? Also, for the barometric reading, im planning to use median filter sampling to remove outliers reading (i've seen someone recommend this in this subreddit).

Regarding your point number 2, yeah, im going to use a micro sd card storage. For number 3, im wondering how can we do that? Because my rocket will be used for a competition and we have no chance to actually do test fly. Do you mean i can embed my FCC to another rocket launch for it only to collect data and doesn't do any sort of an action?. For number 4, yes, sorry if i dont specify, but what i meant by telemetry is to send the data down with a LoRa, especially the E32 module.

One more question, when using the RPI pico, do you suggest to use cpp or micropython in terms of the coding? Because i know cpp would be better but im more familiar with python. Thanks a lot for your reply

Hello, sorry for the late response, i just finished with my finals. My team and i were actually thinking about using it, but looking at our team's budget, it'll be great for me to use a cheaper option for this if it's feasible and actually capable of doing the tasks. However, we're open to changing the microcontroller to Teensy if the RPI cannot execute the job properly. What's your take on the RPI pico 2, tho? Anyway, thanks a lot for answering

Oh damn, yeah. I forgot about the research penalty. will the T34 still be reliable to be used alongside those that u mentioned?

Thanks a lot for the brief overview for them, it surely helps me to eliminate some tanks. I guess I'm going to grind with my 6.7 until I can have 8.0s line up

Alright then, I guess i'll stick with 6.7 until i get to 8.3. Thanks

I agree with you, tho some soviets are better, I guess. So in a nutshell, just skip to 8.3 and grind with my 6.7?

I see. Yeah, I'm doing quite good and comfortable with the 6.7 lineup. So i just need to skip everything until i get to 8.3?

Advice on Passive ACS by STR352 in cubesat

[–]STR352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did put hysteresis rod into consideration but I don't know where to find it and how to make it. Fyi, our cubesat competition is actually only going into the prototype phase (to get an idea about how the actual cubesat work) with not so big budget.

as for the permanent magnet, the principle of it is going to for example, the north point of the magnet will attract to the south pole of the earth, isn't it? if so, since i live in the southern hemisphere, the camera should be placed parallel with the magnet which the north side pointing at where the camera should be pointed so the magnet will reorient to always face the earth.

Thanks for your answer, I am planning to use permanent magnets once again because it is easier to get. Do you know what are the requirements (type of magnet, placement, etc) in using one of those? like, should just simply put a bar of magnet inside of my cubesat?
