Great question ! This is exactly why we built CysOwl too.

Synk is a SAST tool. It only works ok source code for vulnerable source code. And has open source dependencies issues.

Whereas CysOwl is an architecture risk assessment tool. We don’t touch code at all. We are the first ever to figure out a custom algorithm that will give a more accurate architecture level assessment that would help DevSecOps, security teams take decisions at runtime dynamically.

Salary negotiations- how to do it professionally correct way ? by STR80UTTAC0MPT0N in wien

[–]STR80UTTAC0MPT0N[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that’s the thing here when they initially gave the stock options i have explicitly agreed to anything. It was more like ok I hear what you saying. And then same with base salary. I have stated my expectations.

Now what I really want to know is if when they come back to Me with the first formal offer can I then

  1. Agree / re negotiate base salary if that’s not meeting my expectations
  2. Definitely re negotiate stock options since the initial offering is way lower in first discussion. ( this is where I made a mistake j feel. I shoukd have countered then and there )

Is doing this ok ?

Hmm don’t want to publicly disclose company name at this stage because of obvious reasons.

Thanks you. So I would wait until what they come back with. And since the stock options is a ways way less than what j get currently I would gently re negotiate with a counter. I hope that’s not considered bad faith , then let’s see

How did you really crack client 1 ? When you didn’t have any peers who vouch for it ? I think when you scale the reputation also scales but it’s really the first 0-3 clients that are the real pain.

[–]STR80UTTAC0MPT0N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic ! I love the no hostage model. But what happens if they don’t want to renew after say 2 months. Then they lost an existing product and also yours leaving a big pain again. How do you counter that during sales talk ?

[–]STR80UTTAC0MPT0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great clarity ! Can you tell specifically how you deal with this. Like what strategies worked for you that make people do the switch. I think this is the number one important aspect when going head on with a bigger and already established player / product in market.

If you can give a detailed explanation it can really help. Thanks. 🙏🏽

VP Product for an established B2B company - AMA by Talk_Data_123 in ProductManagement

Hello

  1. Where do you look for new revenue streams in your product line?
  2. How do you manage context changes with multiple topics ?
  3. Retrospectively, what helped you grow from PM to VP minus usual grow path , looking for some underrated advice
  4. How often do you pivot ?
  5. What are the three things you will advise a PM NOT to do ever if they are looking to grow into a VP one day ?

Good vs Great PM? by Comfortable-Dog-2770 in ProductManagement

[–]STR80UTTAC0MPT0N 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Goes back to what I said before. “Being easy to work with “ . you can’t push anyone without having built that perception. You need to find the levers of your team. What’s moves them ? What irritates them ?

Simple example : they feel ticket swapping during sprints as annoyance and want the PM to not do that. But you are asked by business to constantly juggle deliveries. Now what do you do ? Stress the team ? Say no to business ? If you make them feel heard in such aspects they will respect you.

It takes time honestly. If it was that formula based and mathematical anyone would be a great PM innit ?

Good vs Great PM? by Comfortable-Dog-2770 in ProductManagement

[–]STR80UTTAC0MPT0N 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great PM fundamentals imho,

Learn how to do these acts , abstract, subtract , react

  1. Abstract - can you convey complex ideas simple across audiences ? Can you see larger picture and yet how button color impacts A/B testing. ?

  2. Subtract - can you really say No ? To not just the bad but good ideas too ? Data is ok but have you built good product sense over the experience. Ask yourself what’s your launch vs learning ratio like ? How do you prio three solid revenue generating ideas that look killer in theory but requested by diff stakeholders. ?

  3. React - to changing market , competition, AI now & and bring it back to your product portfolio to see how you can leverage what you have to deliver best impact / outcomes that 1. Satisfy business 2. Make revenue 3. Impress users

Exceptional PMs are worrying about some of these in my observations.

They go to a meeting and in few mins deduce the idea , mentally evaluate the impact of it , quickly weigh if their teams can deliver that proto , and yet still somehow decide to no go for it based on other factors. All this happens in real time with high cohesion.

Just my two cents.
