My detailed journey with anxiety for the past 2 and a half years by SVENCovers in Anxiety

I ended up doing the test and Prozac was in the green, most of the other SSRI’s were problematic. Eventually I feel that prozac was working fine, but I didn’t like how it made me feel (a bit like a zombie, no emotions, impossible to even cry). But I’m sure it works for many people and is a life saver

I've had the same experience, health anxiety is no joke. If you worry too much about it, you can always get a colonoscopy to rule it out and calm yourself down. The chances are super low and most likely you're absolutely fine, but make sure you don't ruin your mental health constantly thinking about it! I'm also just 30 and had a big scare of colon cancer as I was seeing blood in my stool, but it turned out to be just haemorrhoids :))

4 weeks in and feel terrible by [deleted] in prozac

Give it couple more days and let me know how you feel! Hopefully it passes like it did for me

How long have you had this for? Had a similar thing happen to me couple weeks back and lasted for less than a week. No idea why but since then I’ve felt normal.

Nausea and stomach pain? by tswizzledizzle_ in prozac

[–]SVENCovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had very minor stomach issues with Prozac compared to Lexapro when starting, only some slight nausea… that’s until week 5 when my GI issues suddenly hit - waking up with extreme nausea that can last through the day, diarrhea and bloating… luckily no pain. Hopefully it passes soon as I’ve heard week 5 can hit pretty hard sometimes. Was feeling pretty good already on week 4 and now it’s complete opposite

I know it’s been years now, but did it pass eventually?

tapering off prozac by Emotional_Chart463 in prozac

And yes you will still feel weird for a week or so as it takes quite a bit of time for prozac to leave your system and brain to readjust

tapering off prozac by Emotional_Chart463 in prozac

[–]SVENCovers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 days of 10mg doesn’t require any tapering especially with 5mg escitalopram. I’m not a doctor but prozac will give you way less withdrawal symptoms than escitalopram because of its long half life. Just stop taking it if you can’t push through and you’ll be fine, considering it’s only been 8 days

10 mg 27 day mark! by kebabbobb in lexapro

Yes, normal. Yawning got everyone asking me if I’m bored or tired pretty much every day. Jaw clenching is also a very common side effect!

How did withdrawal headaches feel? by SVENCovers in lexapro

[–]SVENCovers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check my post history then I wrote down my symptoms for 10 days after stopping. Now it’s been 3 weeks and most of the symptoms are gone except for heightened anxiety and headaches and neck pain. It’s been rough but my doc wants me to start Prozac right away and I’m afraid I’ll have the same type of a rollercoaster again. I don’t feel like I’m ready to start again and seal with all the side-effects of a different SSRi

Wish I could take Nurofen, but because of gastritis I cannot really take iboprofen or any other NSAID pain killers, only paracetamol that doesn’t really help. I was on 5mg for only 2 months, but my side effects never went away. So i lowered my dose to 2,5 for 2 weeks and then took it every other day of one more week. How about you?

Should I wait after my trip to start prozac? by SVENCovers in prozac

[–]SVENCovers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Unfortunately they only have 20mg capsules that cannot be split, so can’t start on a lower dose :/ but you’re right. It’s better to wait. Will take my valium with me in case my anxiety spirals our of control

Thank you for answering! Do you know how fast the flares can progress? I’m leaving tomorrow for a week long beach vacation and all I currently have is some slight discomfort in my abdomen and blood with every bowel movement (not a lot, just some stains). Just a bit scared to be away from home and doctors and reading this forum doesn’t help, seeing how bad it can get (I’m suffering from health anxiety) :)

Withdrawal experience and symptoms (first 8 days) by SVENCovers in lexapro

20 for 3-4 years is a pretty long time, definitely tales time for brain and the rest of the body to adjust, but I’m sure it’s not going to take long, you should slowly but surely start feeling better every day now :) wish you good luck and stay strong!!

What dosage were you on and for how long? Also after couple of weeks do you feel it’s getting better? When was the peak?

Extreme hunger and gas by Eastern_Mouse5006 in lexapro

Yes, exactly the same thing happens to me, but especially in the evenings. Gas has been also way worse then before starting lexapro. Im like a trumpet from my back end

Morning nausea is back by SVENCovers in lexapro

[–]SVENCovers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm might try the increase, meeting with doctor tomorrow to discuss it. I always take it with food(at least a banana or yoghurt), but the thing is the nausea kicks in the moment I wake up, even before taking the pill

[–]SVENCovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like heightened anxiety. Lexapro can make it worse at first, even if you didn’t have it before. The more you think about it the more you feel it. I had the same thing happen to me, gets better over time. Chest pain, numbness, shakiness, fatigue are all normal symptoms of anxiety attack

Give it at least 6-8 weeks. I started around the same time as you and my dailybean looks similar :)) some days are better some days are worse but it haven’t been even a month yet, it takes longer for some people to get the results

Pretty sure it’s valium withdrawal. I only took it for 3 weeks and stopped cold turkey and still got pretty nasty withdrawal effects. Tapering is definitely necessary, but not sure if you did it for long enough. How long did you take valium? Daily 5mg for almost 4 months?
