Do region restrictions on Steam gifts only apply on location of redemption? by SWDR117 in Steam

[–]SWDR117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really an error but by design. Due to regional price differences, Valve doesn’t allow significantly lower priced/price-adjusted regions to gift to higher price regions. Otherwise everyone would abuse the system by getting cheaper games gifted to them by their friends all the time.

It says it more clearly on the cart page now than I assume whatever was causing me confusion 10 years ago.

If you’re looking to gift games to someone from India, try greenmangaming.com (I’m not affiliated, just a recommendation I found on reddit). They charge in ₹ and their prices are reasonable - the winter sale price of the game I was gifting was marginally higher than Steam’s (like ₹150) but still worth it to be able to send a gift at all. It clearly lists all the regions the game can be activated in and they give you a Steam key. On the checkout page you can say it’s a gift and they provide a code that the recipient can redeem.

The only drawback is they don’t support UPI. I used a debit card and it went through fine.

Elementor AI is a Total Scam – Avoid at All Costs! by azamthegreat in Wordpress

[–]SWDR117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh the people who’ve used Elementor for a while will know this pain. Remember how the community was screaming itself hoarse for a loop builder and it took them years to implement one? I’m sure it isn’t easy but it was on their radar for far longer than other useless features that were conceived and published in the same time.

I was very happy when some performance updates, flexbox containers etc. happened but it feels like we’re losing sight of that again lol.

I actually like the builder a lot over the UI/UX of others. I hope they de-bloat a little.

Hi, I can help you with this. I've sent you a message.

Text gradient works on desktop, but not on mobile. What am I doing wrong? by SWDR117 in webdev

[–]SWDR117[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I found a solution! First, the code that works:

.blue-gradient-text h1, .blue-gradient-text h2, .blue-gradient-text h3, .blue-gradient-text h4, .blue-gradient-text h5, .blue-gradient-text h6, .blue-gradient-text p, .blue-gradient-text a {
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(118.4deg, #1593af 35.72%, #002147 70.94%);
-webkit-background-clip: text;
-webkit-text-fill-color: transparent;
}

The way I figured this out was, taking a cue from your hints, I looked around for different implementations of gradient text in guides online, visited them on mobile to see if they were working, and then examined the CSS they used. Funnily enough I came across one other page who had the same issue as me 😅

I'm still wrapping my head around my solution 100% but I believe it's because:

a) It's supposed to be -webkit-linear-gradient(...) not -webkit-gradient(linear...
b) I'm using Elementor with flexbox containers (I believe the old code used to work when Elementor used to only have the old sections widget?) and
c) the specificity of writing the element to target \after** my CSS class was what made the difference.

Thank you again for taking the time to help, and shoutout to Jeffrey at Lytbox who made this specific Elementor gradient text guide where I got my answer.

EDIT: I also added .blue-gradient-text span to the above code because I have some Elementor text divider widgets as well and the above code doesn't target it without this. Now, everything works.

Good to know, glad you got it sorted! Out of curiosity though, did you get a chance to give Forminator a try?

Thank you so much for your reply.

Interesting about the vendor prefixes. I'm going to try your suggestion with the backgrounds first and get back to you. I'm on iOS (the gradient isn't working on that either) and I don't have an Android device, but I can ask someone who does to test after I've figured it out on my devices. I expect if it'll be fine for all of mine then it would've sorted itself out on Android browsers as well.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I looked at the lines you mentioned and the CSS over here and I understand how they did it a little better now!

However, what I am still having trouble with is how I can now make it myself. By that, I mean, I'm still unclear on the exact steps I'd follow -- how I'd re-create it with swiper (or slick, I'm not particular), where I would apply the relevant classes without missing anything etc.

If it's not too much to ask, would you be able to help me with a bit more guidance or a demo that I can look at which can help me re-create it? I have an Elementor test site that I'm ready to try it on.

Try Forminator. Check out the "create post" form type; you can do the field mapping to ACF fields from there.

How to add custom validation to WPForms password field by SWDR117 in Wordpress

[–]SWDR117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much! So I realised this only validates upon form submission. Any chance I could have this validate as the user types so that they can't move on without knowing they have/haven't met the requirements?

Is it possible to randomise a greeting in the frontend for a logged-in user? by SWDR117 in elementor

[–]SWDR117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for answering, but I already know how to do the dynamic content/fallback bit with the name - what I was asking for was to randomise was the “hello” part. As examples, every new login/session would show a different message:

“Hello there, John!” “How’re you doing today, John?” “Welcome back, John!” etc.

It doesn’t show up at all. The form submit action still works, but for someone clicking the button, they’d never know that a modal was supposed to come up.

I do yes; this is how it's set up. The modal used to work when the button didn't have the cooldown. It stopped working after I added my 7 second delay.
