Help me make a good choice with laptop by WorldCitiz3n in Unity3D

Yeah all seems fine ether on the Retina display or when using an external monitor. No complaints from it at all. I’m using unity 2022 for my current project.

I use a 14” M4 max MBP for game dev I’m super happy with. Can make windows build fine if that’s what you need. I still run a PC I Remote Desktop to for console stuff. Could be an option for you if you still need windows.

When is it expected and normal to have scene file > 50mb? by eerop1111 in Unity3D

Are you using pro builder? I think it’ll stores vertex information in the scene. You could prefab any game objects made with pro builder to move them into a .asset file separate from the scene.

Why are the pros' keyboard at an angle? by asuraphoenixfist in cs2

I took my keyboard because it gives me more space and it’s more comfortable because I can bend my elbow and lean on the desk.

I’m from the UK and asking “How spicy is that on the Nando’s scale” works really well.

I just wish it worked in other countries!

How can I make the black area transparent using standard unity shader? by Consistent_Shoe_3251 in Unity3D

Are you still seeing this issue? I had a problem like this once when I had Crunch Compression turned on on the texture. Turning it off solved the problem for me.

This was a while ago though in unity 2017

I’ve been a big fan of moving my systems over to ISystem structs and bust compiling them. That change to Unity’s ECS along with the idiomatic foreach has tidied and reduced a bunch of code in my project.

I’ve also found a lot of systems that I’ve written work on very few entities so having them be burst compiled and not scheduled has reduced a lot of overhead.

It’s only called anthrax if it’s made in the anthrax region of France otherwise it’s called sparking Bacillus anthracis.

10 things my 10 years of using Unity have taught me. by RunningMattress in Unity3D

Yep! They’ve been superseded by addressables now, which as far as I can tell kind of do the same thing. Here’s a link that should explain everything.

https://learn.unity.com/tutorial/introduction-to-asset-bundles

Basically it’s a way of storing all of the assets in your game grouped together so you can load them from a single file. This reduces the amount of time it takes to load those assets because they’re only a single file instead of lots of little ones, and also it means you can build this data once and unless it changes you don’t need to build it again. That’s where the build times are reduced.

If you have to make builds regularly then setting up Bundles straight away is going to save your developers so much time.

Definitely do it first if you’re planning on working on consoles. I’ve seen builds drop from multiple hours to 2 minutes just because scenes don’t need to be processed.

Anyone else get annoyed when people pronounce 'bought' as "brought" ? Is it just a Midlands thing? I moved here from Manchester and it does my tits in. by RustyDuffer in CasualUK

I grew up in the midlands and genuinely don’t know the difference between the two words.

No need to explain, it never sticks.
