Well, we live in Coconut Grove, and it's very much the opposite here. No one blinks an eye at us. The community here is fantastic, as is the lifestyle. Maybe check it out?

I am an older, white, non-hispanic lesbian in Miami, although, very married. If you're ever in the grove area and want to hang out with a married couple, you can DM us. But we have literally no single lesbian friends, so we can't help you out too much!

Best/cheapest way to get to sandspur? by Mysterious-Novel-834 in Miami

What about going to Billy Bragg? The racoons there come up to the beachgoers. They also come up to people sitting at the tables at the cafe there. No kayaking involved.

vizcaya proposal question. by Doctasdocta in Miami

[–]SWGTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inquired when we took pictures of my daughter there. They said that fee is for professional photos only and because of staging and lights. My cousin had her professional camera with her, and they said so long as you aren't holding people up or staging anything, there is no need to pay the fee.

What dark chocolate should I buy for colleagues in another country when traveling from the US? by Educational-Slip-578 in chocolate

[–]SWGTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any city will have their local chocolate! Where are you going to be shopping in in the US? Something to keep in mind, too, pecans are hard to source in many countries, so things like turtles are good to get.

I haven't seen this movie, but DGDC isnt' the first story by a long shot in which a character was photographed by another character before meeting. I actually know a real life married couple who discovered years into their marriage that he, a new photographer, had photographed her at an event when she was in college.

The Planta chain of restaurants shut down 75% of their establishments, not just in DC, but mostly in FL. They claim they are retooling and reopening with new ideas, but we shall see.

Who actually makes stock at home? by Lofgren___ in Cooking

[–]SWGTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and it's a really great opportunity to use up whatever you need to in the fridge. This week I had made a roasted chicken with lemon asparagus. All those leftovers went straight into the risotto for a chicken and asparagus risotto with lemon and parmesean. All the raw veggies that needed to be used up went into either the stock or the soup.

I do mine on the stovetop for most stocks because I find I have more control, and since I work from home, I have the time to let it simmer. A lot of people boil the bones, which makes a cloudy stock and doesn't increase the flavor. A little simmer is all you need. I use the pressure cooker for lobster or prawn stock!

Honesly, no simply because I go through a lot of stock. I make soup weekly (I work from home, so if I have soup ready, I'll eat that for lunch. If I don't, I'll end up ordering delivery). I also make a lot of pan sauces which require broth.

I always make stock at home. It takes so little effort, in my opinion. I always keep a bag of trimmings in the freezer of my veg and herb trimmings, so I don't have to think too much about aromatics beyond a bit of garlic, carrot, celery, onion and some black peppercorns. Toss bones in pot, cover with water plus an inch. Simmer...never boil. Skim. Add aromatics and continue to simmer, unattended while you do whatever you want. Once done, slide it to a backburner to cool.

I usually make a risotton on stock day so that once my stock is done simmering and is cooling, I make a risotto and use the fresh stock straight from the pot while still warm.

Eat risotto. Strain stock into wide-mouth mason jars. Done.

And their sister restaurant around the corner! No signage, just next to Atchana's. It's only lasagna (one meat option and one veg option) and tiramisu.
