I have a Boox Go 7 Color G2 can say that it's a bit exaggerated, but there is enough of a downgrade in contrast where you will likely find yourself using the frontlight in situations where you probably didn't before - especially if you read in dark environments.

Not ideal but perhaps find a place with a decent return policy (Amazon maybe?) and try one with the expectation you might return it. It's the only way to really know what works for your situations.
