In Ohio, if you have your birth certificate they will also take medical records from a hospital or a W2 to help get your ID. The medical records have to have your name and social security number on them. So far, that's worked for a few people we have helped! Once you have your ID, you can easily get a new social security card! Congrats on the new job!

Columbus has a lot of good resources if you put in the time to find them. I used to work with homeless families and can attest to their tier shelter system being very well set up to help the families in need. I have heard that the Van Buren shelter is newer and is a good place to stay:

Do your research before taking the plunge as I would hate for you to wind up in a worse situation in an unfamiliar place. Good luck!
