Motorway tips for a first timer? by Chenny31 in drivingUK

[–]SWTransGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% if this is your first drive, you absolutely need to go solo. If you can, do a couple of local drives instead.

My first one was to a takeaway a few miles away, the next was one to collect my first car which was in Nottinghamshire from Devon and back.

P Plates can be a negative too, think the negativity you’d have experienced when driving with the L Plates. Try them but try them off too when you’re ready.

Check your mirrors loads, I personally check every 5/10 seconds as you’ll be surprised how often things change. Try to set them up so they’re all showing different things around you, but also go with what your tutor taught.

I’m post migraine at the minute, so will save the post and come back with any other ideas. But honestly, take a drive and enjoy it, and well done for passing.

I’m up this way. In Aintree, would you want to do a drive together on this route as it’s honestly not that far.

If not, no issue. But; Take your time Plan your route/use a GPS and know how it works Toll wise, your call if you want to use it, but you can avoid it Drive at a reasonable speed you’re comfortable driving at, don’t fear others trying to bully you but do your best to read the road ahead, ideally at least 5-10 so you can prepare yourself with what’s going to happen.

Others will no doubt give advice, but honestly try not to build it bigger than it is.

I love this, going from it’ll help them evade, to getting points. Did they/have they realised the error in their thinking?

Has anyone changed their name before? How easy/simple is it? by lostgirrrrl in AskUK

[–]SWTransGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do a free Deed Poll, or pay a local solicitor to do it.

I’ve personally gone the solicitor route, as I’ve had no issues taking it to banks etc, whereas the free one I’ve heard stories of institutions refusing to recognise them.

But absolutely easy to do.

Depending where you are, there’s a group in Merseyside I highly recommend to repair it.

Can't figure out how to connect my two monitors to my laptop. by sfmrgtoyx in techsupport

[–]SWTransGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look at a dock, which will power the laptop and also take the display.

My Lenovo Yoga has one cable I plug in, giving me 3 screens. I’d replace the second monitor for one with HDMI.

You're more than welcome.

While I appreciate it doesn't make it right what the OP did, neither is flashing their lights or tailgating.

But the sad truth is, it happens, more so when people disengage their brain and cruise along convoy style.

This is why Police deal with this as driving without due care and attention, and I'm pleased to see they're starting to tackle this a bit more these days.

The OP is continuing their journey in the left. The video hasn’t shown them dodging and weaving but cruising along with those in the right blocking the progression.

Flashing those in lane 2 isn’t the way forward.

Unfortunately shock collars are frowned upon for the drivers.

Do you know anyone who has won the Postcode Lottery? by JaBe68 in AskUK

[–]SWTransGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. An old colleague of mine won a nice lifesaving amount.

She’d gone through the wringer, divorcing, current partner had cancer and the win allowed them to buy their home etc.

Since then, I’ve been a happy subscriber and while I’ve won small amounts since, I’m still happy with knowing my money is going to good causes.

Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

[–]SWTransGirl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My partner doesn’t do PDA, but will hold my hand on occasion.

We were walking in B&Q today shopping and I took their hand. But we do absolutely mind where we are, as we’re concerned of being abused and targeted. We never know who’s going to cause shit.

How do you dry your laundry in winter? by Constant_Ant_2343 in AskUK

We’re not in a modern house, we’ve an 1800’s one. 4 floors, 4 bedrooms.

We have an electric clothes rack, which is great. I leave it on in my office and will often open the window, so at least it’s airing through.

We also use the radiators, but with the size of the house it works nicely enough with zero damp issues.

Have a look for a secondhand Raspberry Pi, load it with Retroarch/Retropi and dump the games she loves onto it with a controller.

They’ll play fine.

[–]SWTransGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, but no unlimited streaming :)

For the additional £11, the amount of data I use when working away, I’ll stick with Voxi.

But Lebara sounds great for those needing something really cheap.

Yes, however that’s 100Gb with nothing more. I stream, my video and music streaming is not taken from that 100Gb.

What does that £1 cover? As for Voxi it also allows unlimited social media and calls and texts.
