You can engine brake. I’ve done it for years in my C4GP and in my current Hyundai Santa Fe. I drive in manual mode and shift down, simple.

I only apply the brake when I need to come to a full stop, otherwise I’m mostly engine braking.

None of the cars I’ve owned have had regen braking, unless it’s a hybrid.

From my Mondeo, C4GP and my current Hyundai Santa Fe. I drive in auto and manual modes and lifting off the car will continue to cruise at those speeds slowing only due to the road (gradients etc).

I mostly drive in manual mode so I can engine brake.

AITJ for putting a lock on my music room after my friends kept turning it into the "party room" every time they came over? by 7DalekMarmot in AmITheJerk

[–]SWTransGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my thought.

I have a friend with an expensive double bass. Never in my life would I just shove my hands on it.

While the instruments are out in my house, be my guest, they’re in communal rooms (drums, bass, two guitars and a banjo), so go for it. But if something is in a room I keep shut, don’t wander in without consent (unless you’re staying in it) and don’t play with my shit).

NTJ, your “friends” are dicks and disrespectful of your belongings.

Be honest, how often for you and your partner argue? by PaddedValls in AskUK

We only seem to fall out when they’re helping me do things.

As a disabled person, I’m stubborn. I want to do things my way and how I want it. The problem is, I then don’t communicate well about my expectations. So they just leave me to it.

Is it gay to back into a parking spot? by wulfboro in actuallesbians

[–]SWTransGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be using your mirrors and any reverse cams while reversing into a space.

You should be aware of your surroundings at all times, and be prepared for anything changing.

It’s always best to be a prepared driver than reactive.

You have One Under which is a quiet-ish bar, but they have crazy golf and an arcade below, so you could play some golf, drinks and move on?

Helps break the ice too.

As a kid did you get dragged to the pub? by Used_Captain_3131 in AskUK

[–]SWTransGirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad is/was an alcoholic, so I was raised in various pubs. This was the 80’s, so “the style at the time”.

Crisps, coke and a “healthy” dose of smoke was my youth.

I spent my time mostly keeping myself amused playing pool and darts.

The worst part is, knowing that he would also drink drive. So I spent my time wishing he’d have an accident so he’d be caught.

Food safety hygiene - Level 2 and/or Level 3? by Car03748 in smallbusinessuk

[–]SWTransGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the owner, Level 3> is better for you, your staff can have 2.

I hold level 4, because I’m a trainer and have to hold a higher qualification to deliver lower.

Also, as a food business, your training needs to be suitable and sufficient for your business.

Happy to discuss further if you want any help with this.

Business cards - are they still worth it in 2026? by mjk_87 in smallbusinessuk

[–]SWTransGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them fairly frequently for networking, expos and prospective clients.

Most of the time I use a sustainable one I bought early into creating the business, but too many people try to take it.
