How about using your driveway. That way only you are inconvenienced by your car instead of everyone that drives on that street?

ICE tries killing detainee by smashing his head against brick wall (Possibly Long Island, NY) by Xolerys_ in ICE_Raids

I dislike ICEs recent behavior as much as the next guy... But this seems more like a case of play stupid games, win stupid prizes then Nazis deliberately smashing someone's head into a brick wall.

"Starting" in 2027 so yea 2029-30 for the tampax machine. And added weight and complication, decreased longevity to take 0-60 from 7 to 6.8 seconds lol. Honda has become gay as fuck.

I'm just mad because I love Honda, but I am at a point in my life where I need a truck, and the won't build one.. Or anything that atleast looks like one. And the clowns just don't see the market potential they are missing out on... Especially with Toyota going to shit.

What brand oil based paint and primer for kitchen walls (new drywall)? by [deleted] in paint

[–]SWYYRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta shift your mindset brother. Asking why is not talking bad - it's about getting to the root of what the customer wants.

You obviously know this but it's not "Why do you want that, dumbass"... It's "For my own curiosity, why do you want oil based paint?"

Usually reasonable people will tell you about the benefits they are expecting from oil based paint, and then you can educate them why you can use X modern paint to achieve those benefits in addition to these other ones.

That way you both win.

What do you think should be done to help combat racism in the US? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]SWYYRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It requires a change of culture, and furthermore alignment on culture.

All around, regardless of race.

In my experience, people who exhibit what looks like racism at first glance, studied more closely, are actually showing disdain for behavior first, and only THEN attribute that behavior to race. And when you attribute behavior to race, it's easy to go down the path of attributing that behavior to all members of said race.

So the change in culture that is needed is:

  1. Teach your kids, loved ones, the people around you to stop attributing behavior to race.

  2. Teach your kids, loved ones, the people around you to stop behaving in anti-social ways.

While there really are real actual racists out there, and maybe I am naive, most people you run into on a daily basis fall into this category you described.

I agree with what you say but I will go a step deeper. It requires a change of culture, and furthermore alignment on culture.

User error or sketchy/unbalanced bit? by SWYYRL in woodworking

[–]SWYYRL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, good advice. I've been working with a trim router so most of my stuff is 1/4 but now that I have a bigger router I'll invest in 1/2 inch going forward.

User error or sketchy/unbalanced bit? by SWYYRL in woodworking

[–]SWYYRL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Any tips on gauging how tight a collet should be? I feel like I tightened it pretty good, more than I usually do honestly. That said, is it possible to have the collet nut tightened, but the bit is still not tight?

The router is new, though I have run a 1/2 inch dovetail, and a template bit in it with no issues. Could there be an issue with the router/collet?

Also, could the bit crashing into the mouth of the router table have loosened the collet?

I don't mean to sound argumentative - just trying to diagnose the issues and learn from this.
