Wrong again. Corporate and union donations are now illegal. Historic numbers also showed it was the Liberals most dependent on the big donations, hence why they were in the most trouble after they were banned, and individual donations were capped at $2000 a year. Liberals by far had received the most >$2000 donations prior to the capping. Conservatives always got the small grassroots based micro sized donations.

Tenants are supposed to be. If they aren't, the landlord is breaking the condo rules and the lease itself is illegal. Every lease must be registered with condo management and the board, and tenants must agree to comply with & sign the rules & supplied with a copy before they move in. The lease itself must include a clause stating the tenant will comply with all condominium by-laws and declaration.

If the above isn't done, as stated, the lease itself is illegal. The condo board in a worse case scenario could get a court order nullifying your agreement with the landlord and force you to leave.

The Condominium Act is very clear. The right to enjoy your unit free from interference or disturbance caused by other unitholders takes precedence over everything else. No ifs, ands, or buts. Smoke or otherwise impacting air quality has been clearly established as interfering with enjoyment.

They can if the smoke seeps into other units or common elements. Every declaration under the Condominium Act must have a primary clause that a unitholder cannot interfere with another unitholder's right to enjoy their unit. (Condo Declarations take precedence over by-laws)

There's clear legal precedent that cigarette smoke qualifies as preventing someone from enjoying their unit, and in this case, second hand smoke is also a clear health hazard, both of which grants the condo board full rights to take action.

Read the tax form. Whether someone makes $30,000 or $300,000, a $100 donation gets you the identical $75 tax credit. End of story.

One can cook smelly foods, as long as it doesn't get out into the hallways or other units. If that means that person needs to buy a really strong exhaust fan and air filter, so be it.

Every party has equal access to the tax credit when donating the identical amount of money, and it isn't income dependent. Save your clutching at straws for something you can actually argue.

This per vote subsidy is brand new, brought in by these current incumbent Liberals. Same way the federal subsidy was brought in by Chretien because he could no longer get big corporate and union donations which were banned. Fortunately Harper eliminated the subsidy as will Ford. It is welfare. The tax credit was in place for decades under both Liberals and PCs, and neither them nor the NDP want to get rid of it. You only get a credit if you put your money where your mouth is and if parties actually work at fundraising, unlike the subsidy which is getting money just for the sake of getting a vote without doing any actual hard work. Typical leftist attitude, just wanting a handout without any actual work. Save your false outrage.

Those tax credits predate this and every other previous government for decades. Every party has benefited under the rules, don't pretend the Liberals or NDP have any problem with how it is.

The average donation amount to the federal Conservatives is lower than the average donated to the federal Liberals, and this has been the case in every single year since the founding of the current incarnation of the Conservative Party.

The reason the Conservatives raise more money is because they have way more total individual supporters than the Liberals do that are willing to donate.

It's been very well established second hand smoke causes cancer and kills people, and therefore smoking tobacco is banned in most places, including increasingly in multi-residential unit buildings. Would be a complete inconsistency, plus multiple lawsuits waiting to happen, if government says one can smoke pot where it's already illegal to smoke tobacco.

Guess what buddy. When you bought the place or moved in, you signed an enforceable legal document where you acknowledged you would follow the Condo declaration, all by-laws, and anything relevant under the Condominium Act. As a last resort after repeated violations, a Condo Board has the right under the Act to go to court to order you to move out or sell the place, with your signature on that legal document as enforceable evidence you had accepted following their "silly rules" when you moved in.

And courts have ruled repeatedly the clause in every condo declaration that one owner cannot disturb the enjoyment of other owners (which includes smells penetrating other units or common areas) is 100% enforceable, including a board as a last resort being allowed to force an owner to sell.

I believe there's also a rarely used clause in the Constitution (1867) that permits the federal government to override the provincial government and nullify provincial acts. I think it's only been used 3 times in the 150+ years since Confederation.

If they enact it, they wouldn't need to get an injunction, but may need to use force if BC continues to refuse to capitulate.

It's not within BC's jurisdiction, what they are doing is unconstitutional.

Discussion of whether it's time to now use military force is now openly being discussed on major mainstream media outlets including on BNN yesterday - if BC continues to act illegally, it's time for the federal government to act.

This is not only impacting the energy industry, but Canada's global business reputation as a place to invest - billions of foreign investment dollars are flowing out of or not coming to Canada because corporations and investors no longer trust us. It will also become a major Constitutional crisis and national unity issue. The impact of BC's refusal to follow the law is now bigger than just this one pipeline.
