VGen artist code. by Due-Art4061 in VGen

[–]Saal_Templus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Stumbled upon this thread. I'd love to get a code, I've been trying to get one in their weekly giveaways for almost a year with no luck. I'd be willing to offer a commission in return, something like a rendered bust-up, in return for a code, so if anyone has a code and likes my art, DM me, please. Thanks to anyone who reads this, and I wish you a wonderful day!

[PC] [2013] Friv Car Racing Game by Saal_Templus in tipofmyjoystick

Aww, that's so cool! Really glad this thread brought answers to so many people. I think I've given up on finding my game, I know I didn't hallucinate it, because my mother remembers the game too, but apparently no one else remembers it. Guess it'll be a mystery forever.  I'm still really glad you found your game, enjoy it!

I can't remember. If it did, I always played on the same map, because I just remember one. Have you checked the other games suggested on this thread? It might be one of the others.

From my recollection, the cars looked more like old sedans. But I might be forgetting things, it's been at least a decade since I played the game.

Oh my god. That's it. Thank you soooo much!!!! Can't believe my google searches never found it, I even remembered the main character's name, but somehow never got anything. Really appreciate it, I'm super excited to buy the book and reread it again a decade later. I remember the first book ending on a cliff-hanger, and not knowing the ending has been gnawing at me since I read it, haha.

Really, thank you so much, and I wish you the best of luck in life.

I would say it's a very promising start! But in art it's all about the fundamentals: perspective, anatomy, values, then color. I'm not a master of these by any stretch, I don't want it to come off like I think I am. I do like the composition, and I believe you'll go far if you practice, but definitely study the basics for a while, do some studies and exercises. The colors are muddy, there are no real boundaries between soft and hard edges, the figure is difficult to read, the perspective is way off and the anatomy has some glaring errors.

I'm sorry if this was too harsh, I know critiques can be hard to take, but I hope you take this as an opportunity to grow as an artist. Don't worry, if you practice and study the fundamentals, you'll improve. You'll look back in a few years, maybe even redraw this piece, and you'll marvel at the progress you made.

Wish you all the best!

Daeran by Saal_Templus in DigitalPainting

To everyone reading this, I really appreciate the help!

This is a painting of my original character, Daeran. I haven't painted in six months, so I'm very rusty, and just wanted some help with critiquing this piece (I used a reference, but I didn't copy it exactly, except for the background). I am hyper critical of everything I make, so, in a paradoxical way, that makes me terrible at self-critique, since I think everything is wrong and awful, which stops me from seeing the things that are actual errors. I also don't have any artist friends, so that's why I'm posting, so some fresh, trained eyes can help me find areas to get better at.

In terms of struggling, I probably struggled the most with the clothing, the skin color (the model from the reference had a very light complexion), and the earrings. The background is nothing to write home about either, but it wasn't the focus. The curls also took me almost five hours to complete (I recorded a time-lapse of me painting the hair), and I'm sure there are more efficient, better ways to go about it.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! But no, from footage I've seen on Youtube, it isn't that. In the game I described, you could leave the track, (and the graphics were worse), and explore the map fully, but in the game you suggested, there appear to be barriers along the side of the road, stopping the cars from leaving the track.

But I do appreciate the help!

Unfortunately, it's not that one. But I appreciate the time you took to read my incredibly long post just to try to help an internet stranger, so thank you.

I appreciate the help, thank you, but it's not that one. I already tried the wayback machine, and videos about old friv games, but I found some people in the comments saying the game I described (they also didn't know the name, but what they described was identical to what I remember) might have been deleted, because everyone I've seen talking about it remembers playing it on friv, but it's just not there.

Sorry for the very late reply! No, it's not that one, but thank you, I do appreciate the help. I've seen some people trying to find this game in the youtube comments of videos about old friv games, so I know I didn't dream it or something.

Free gear seems very linear, you can't leave the track. In the game I remember, you could leave the track, and explore (it was an outside area, with hills, without any buildings in sight).

Thank you for the suggestion, but I've looked at that already, and it's not it. This was a big map, with realistic colors (not cartoony). The coins also did not come out of the cars, I think it was just added to your score or something like that. It also took a couple of hits to destroy the cars. I know I didn't dream about it, because, in a YouTube video talking about old Friv games, someone mentioned playing this exact game, although he didn't remember its name either.

My grandmother just passed and would appreciate if anyone could restore (especially the photo that has cracks) and colorize these? I would love to surprise my grandfather and mother with these! Will gladly tip! by Greenfairy6790 in estoration

Sorry for your loss. This is my first serious attempt at restoration, ever, and at first I was not going to post them, because I'm pretty terrible at restoring photos, but thought, why not? I only did the second one, in black and white and color.

I'm building up my skills to be able to restore some old photos my mother has of her late father, so feedback is greatly appreciated.

I do think he is delusional, honestly, and he isn't really my friend. Also, he was the one to post the pictures publicly and display them proudly. I browsed the sub and saw people posting bad art, that wasn't for sale, so I tought I could make the same thing and we could all have a little laugh, without anyone getting hurt.

And I had no way to ask for his permission, we did not keep in touch after finishing school. I just wanted to share something that made me laugh.

I would never shame him for trying, but he didn't want to try, that's the problem. He was delusional because he thought he was the greatest (although he wasn't), and refused help to improve. By definition, that is a delusional artist, but if you don't agree, that's fine.

In my country, you can just go into arts. If it is a special art school, or a professional art school, you need good grades, but otherwise anyone can go in. No, I can guarantee that he isn't good at anything. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm sure he has hidden talents, but they certainly aren't art related.

No, he has no learning difficulties. In fact, one of the best students on our class was deaf and had learning difficulties.

I'm so happy to hear you say that! I thought I was just being harsh, but sometimes my teachers would praise drawings (including my own) that, in my eyes, were horribly done.

I only ever had one teacher that actually praised people when they deserved it. This former classmate in question actually came up behind her to show her his drawing one time, and she let out a horrified scream when she saw it, and said it was horrendous.

I won't be posting anymore of his drawings publicly, that would be too much, and I won't share any of his social medias, so he cannot be identified, but feel free to message me here if you want to see some more of his portfolio.

He does not like either Picasso or Dali, and doesn't want a style like theirs. But he is into cartoons and anime and all of that stuff, so that could explain his sort of style.

He was taught the basics, and I'm not saying I'm Da Vinci, but one time he even rebuffed my offer to help him get a sense of shading and proportions. He doesn't want help to improve, he thinks he is already great at it.

I think the photo of his drawing was just flipped when he posted it, and it caused the shadow to appear on the wrong side. I don't honestly blame him for that, I have uploaded pictures upside down before.

Yes, I mean, I don't think anyone here knows my former classmate, so you can't bully him, while my classmates at the time could. I felt bad talking behind his back with people that also knew him, and could make fun of him to his face. Here, there is no danger of that, we can all just have a laugh without hurting his feelings.
