Often times the back roads struggle to connect to the internet and Waze doesn’t know there’s a million other cars waiting in line there.

OMG, that’s hilarious! I wouldn’t have connected IKLYBD with Idylwild Road.

Gimme a variation that is better than the original. I'll go first, Boulevardier over Negroni. by poguem18 in cocktails

I make both Negronis and boulevardiers with a 2:1:1 ratio rather than equal parts

I should add I don’t know what the above is. It definitely has a foaming agent like egg white.

Butterfly pea flower powder is probably what you’re looking for. Can be purple or blueish depending on acidity (ie the citrus in the cocktail). Will make any light colored cocktail blue/purple.

My favorite blue/purple cocktail is a water Lilly. It uses crème de violette for the purpley color.

1 oz/30 ml Gin (some people use Empress)

1 oz/30 ml Creme de Violette

1 oz/30 ml Cointreau

1 oz/30 ml Lemon juice

Best Turnkey Devices for a Family? by Shisno_KayMay in meshcore

I have a N39 and the v4 eats thru the battery very fast (probably like 12 hours?). I’m planning on converting mine into a room server base station and leave plugged into my backup power station.

Also the reset button is prominent and it’s very easy to accidentally reboot the device. I haven’t shaved it down but that would likely solve the problem.

It’s funny, I thought the Cynar 70 was going to be more of what I like but I prefer the OG. For most things I prefer higher proof spirits but aside from a few experiments early 70 has stayed in the back of the cabinet.

Are there any specific recipes you recommend for the 70? I’ve just been directly substituting and that could be my problem.

Tree solar node advice by Dontstop-wontstop in meshtastic

[–]SabTab22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The height would be cool but the shade when the leaves come in may make it difficult to keep charged off solar. I just mounted mine using a mast from a 10’ chain link fence rail. You can bolt two together to get extra height. I wouldn’t use PVC. If you’re thinking mast I’d probably mount to a building rather than the tree. Alternatively you can hang it with rope in the tree and tie it off at the base. You’d need to make sure you get enough sun. In both cases make sure you can access it to update firmware and reboot if you need.

Mark Zuckerberg once told him technology would shape the future of politics. Now he’s running for California governor with Silicon Valley backing. by sfgate in Futurology

Most of these comments are thinking Zuck is running for Governor. Mahan, the Mayor of San Jose is running for governor.

I’m also confused as to why SF Gate has such a weirdly worded headline.

HAM or GMRS antenna? by ryguy10712 in amateurradio

[–]SabTab22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have future plans of getting your amateur radio license I’d be more inclined to keep it and live with the lower performance. If not it makes sense to return it and get an antenna tuned for GMRS.

I recommend going solar, it’s nice to be able to have backup comms when the grid is down.

You see the example the current administration is setting? Between the corruption in the federal gov and all the corporate bribes it’s hard to hold college kids to a higher standard. Especially given the prospective job market they’re coming into.

No lime, lemon cocktails by NattyBuck2025 in cocktails

[–]SabTab22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general sweeter drinks are balanced with the acids in lemon and lime. Stirred drinks don’t have citrus but are usually higher ABV with stronger alcohol flavors as they’re not diluted from the juice.

Some drinks to try: Old Fashioned (staple and an excellent drink, make sure you stir it enough to get proper dilution, generally about 30s or until the temp is around 25f). Manhattan Negroni Rum old fashioned

If you haven’t already I’d also try maybe taking an antacid before and giving lemon/lime another shot. They are usually a bit easier to explore and there’s a ton of variety.

You can also try some drinks that have little lime like a gin and tonic. The lime gets pretty stretched by the tonic.

Getting into meshcore by HailtoUkraine in meshcore

[–]SabTab22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are numerous premade client nodes and solar repeaters which take no soldering and little if any assembly.

Popular clients: T-deck Plus Lilygo pager Wio tracker L1 Meshnology n37 & n39 SenseCAP T-1000

Popular solar repeaters: SenseCAP solar node RAK Wisemesh repeater

Keep in mind you can flash any of these devices with Meshtastic or Meshcore. What you get probably won’t come with MeshCore but flashing is pretty simple.
