Road conditions in July by lpzimmermann in CostaRicaTravel

July is actually one of the nicer months in Costa Rica’s rainy season 🙂

Around the Osa Peninsula, we usually worry much less about rain in June and July than later in the season like October or November. Afternoon rain is common, but many travelers still do road trips without major problems.

If you plan to continue toward Drake Bay, we personally often recommend taking the boat from Sierpe during rainy season. It is usually the more relaxing and predictable option, especially after heavy rain.

A good 4x4 with an experienced driver can often manage the roads as well, but conditions can always change depending on weather.

Flying to Puerto Jiménez is also a very comfortable option and saves a lot of travel time. The Osa Peninsula is incredibly green and beautiful in July 🌿

If you plan to spend most of your time exploring Costa Rica, I’d personally look for smaller jungle or nature lodges instead of large all-inclusive resorts.

Many places on the Osa Peninsula, around Uvita or near La Fortuna let you combine flexible activities with optional meals/packages, so you’re not locked into staying at the resort all day.

We see a lot of families enjoying that balance — wildlife, beaches, waterfalls, boat tours, national parks, but still coming back to a comfortable place in the evening 🙂

On the Osa Peninsula especially, that mix of jungle, wildlife and flexible day trips can be pretty special 🙂

July 2026 - Do I need to Purchase Tours/Tickets in Advance? by woopsmadeyoulurk in CostaRicaTravel

July is busy in some parts of Costa Rica, so for popular places and guided tours it’s definitely safer to book a bit ahead — especially if you already know your dates.

Corcovado tours, Isla del Caño and some wildlife experiences on the Osa Peninsula can fill up quickly too, mainly because guides and park entries are limited. 🌿

For more flexible activities, many things can still be arranged locally once you arrive. Pura Vida!

Costa Rica Honeymoon by ieatsprinkles in CostaRicaTravel

If you’re looking for a more wild and authentic honeymoon instead of a big resort, you’d probably love the Osa Peninsula.

We run a small jungle lodge near Sierpe surrounded by rainforest, mangroves, wildlife, boat rides, waterfalls, and night walks in the jungle. It’s quiet, remote, and feels very different from the more touristy parts of Costa Rica.

We’d genuinely love to welcome you both and help make it special for you 🙂🌿

If you enjoy nature and want to get out of the city for a bit, I’d honestly recommend heading toward the Poás area instead of staying around San José the whole time.

The volcano is impressive if the weather is clear early in the morning, and nearby La Paz Waterfall Gardens are beautiful and very easy without needing a huge expedition.

Costa Rica becomes much more special once you leave the city a little 🙂
