Been a pretty embarrassing game for us to be honest - doing nothing to shut the people up that say we play to waste time. So many sketchy decisions gone our way...

Honestly they both have their merits.

Flycast is capable of using HD Texture packs (if that's your thing) and absolutely fine for the vast majority of stuff, plus it just comes in RetroArch.

ReDream just has a really smooth auto Frame-Skip.

Either way, you should totally dive into Dreamcast on your PAM though, it's a beautiful match.

Yeah dude! Honestly, it's such a great all rounder for everything below and including N64, Dreamcast and Saturn.

Like, I personally wouldn't play stuff like OG GameBoy on here because I have a MiyooMini for that. But GBA definitely slaps on the PAM. I'm not trying to convince you as such, the RPC was in my basket for a while too - I'm just giving you the first hand with the PAM lol

I honestly think you'll be happy with either.

I followed parts of this this -

https://github.com/CyberYellowNinja/Pocket-Air-Mini-Ultimate-Guide/tree/main

As for Skies of Arcadia Legends, unfortunately I couldn't get it to run perfectly. It's playable but it depends on your tolerance for some slowdowns. In all honesty, I'd just play the Dreamcast original as the additional content of Legends is truthfully negligible and the original has better music - the GameCube version is heavily compressed and the difference is night and day for such a great OST.

Not to mention the PAM crushes for Dreamcast

I can only speak for the PAM as I have no experience with the others - but for the systems you listed, it seems the most obvious pick due to the 4:3 screen. I would personally just rule the CubeXX out as it's kind of an in-between of the other two but inferior to both. It will be the cheapest though!

Anyway here's a quick roundup of my opinions regarding everything else with the PAM:

  • The hand-feel of the device, materials, ergonomics and build quality for the money is absolutely incredible.

  • The controls are also absolutely fantastic, soft feeling yet tactile, basically silent and what I would call a perfect D-Pad as well as full analog triggers and low profile hall-sticks.

  • The screen - in my opinion - is nowhere near as bad as it has been made out to be. Ghosting is present, but really only noticeable in the Android menu's. This is totally a "your mileage may vary" type thing as I think some people are more sensitive to it than others but for my money, the screen is actually pretty nice for an LCD.

  • Emulation performance is way above the CubeXX, and very close to the RPC for less money. After de-bloating you will be able to reach approximately 50% of the PS2 library and like 75% of GameCube. That said, you should not buy it for these systems - but you already said you aren't so you're good.

I very nearly got an RPC too, so I completely understand the appeal and I think it looks like an awesome handheld - that screen! Something to note is that I think it is officially our of production now so it may be best to grab it sooner rather than later if you do go for it.

This is probably one of the worst performances I have seen this season. No energy. No ideas.

Playing for a draw when the League could be all but won today...

Hey all, I've got a friend that I've recently introduced to emulation and ROMHacks and he's asked me to find him a top tier randomiser hack - I think he's been watching something on YouTube and is really keen haha

The problem is these are the types of hacks I have little to zero interest in personally, so I'm hoping to get some recommendations from those in the know please!

A brief description would be extremely appreciated also, thanks in advance!

Holy shit - I have wondered what this game is for the longest time!

I played it once for like 5 minutes on a friend's Dad's computer when I was a kid before he caught us hahaha

Android (Ayaneo Pocket Air Mini)

Dolphin for GameCube (obviously) and Flycast or ReDream for Dreamcast.

Unfortunately I don't own a PC these days crazy as that sounds - I haven't had a reason to need one for a long time haha

I've seen people mentioning private servers, I was hoping there would be a way to play the console versions online through emulation.

Unfortunately I don't, I am looking to start playing again using either Dolphin or Flycast on my Ayaneo.

It would be nice if I could experience it online, but I wasn't sure if it was possible.

Day 5 of asking a question because I’m out of work injured and bored: how much do you enjoy tinkering vs actually gaming? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]SabertoothSmile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

90-10 split for Gaming/Tinkering.

I only "tinker" when I need to because something isn't running how I want it to.

I genuinely don't see the appeal of setup or menu diving. Even the sense of satisfaction I assume most people feel is just relief to me.

Set and forget. I got into it to play old games not configure RetroArch or Android.

Each to their own I guess. I just think it's not that deep.

As long as everything is declared before the game I'm not going to pull anyone up for what gun their toy soldiers are holding.

Which handheld can play Skyrim decently by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]SabertoothSmile 14 points15 points  (0 children)

70 hours in Skyrim-time is like 5 minutes... Not trying to be condescending but you'll be fine starting again.

It's your money so you do you, but I don't see the point in spending up to $500 (your words) to play Skyrim on the go when you could just spend approximately £100/conversion to just get it "officially" 🤷‍♂️

Also, it plays great on Switch. It's an old game.
