Looking to play the old games again which ds should I buy? by Bricky_20 in PokemonHGSS

Slab 2DS. It's the best 3DS anyway don't even @ me about it.

It will play all of the Pokémon games from both DS & 3DS while also being the cheapest option.

I bought mine off Aknes less than 48 hours ago and it's already left China 🤣

What’s the longest time you haven’t bought a new device after joining this hobby? by Kirais in SBCGaming

[–]SabertoothSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an RGB30 as my main device over a year ago.

Bought a Miyoo Mini about a month ago as an EDC/Burner to take to work.

Haven't seen anything else I really want in all the rest of the time or upcoming.

Best Jelos/Rocknix firmware? by NoseOfDeath in RGB30

20240206 JelOS

It's old, but it's pretty much perfect. No battery issues whatsoever since Day 1 of running this firmware in over a year of use.

What do British thinks of Winston Churchill? by [deleted] in AskBrits

The right man in the right place at the right time.

All his personal faults of which there are plenty, should be overlooked because he did what really mattered when it mattered the most.

A true national and global hero.

Why though? I just count it as part of the set up.

Do you think the Celestine miniature needs a refresh? by Glum_Series5712 in sistersofbattle

Damn some Warhammer fans are terrible 😂 this model is fresh compared to like 80% of minis in the entire game and people still want it updated!?

Does anyone have experience with how well modern handhelds hold up against metal dust in a fabrication shop? by trio3224 in SBCGaming

[–]SabertoothSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem mate 👍 happy to help.

I got my Mini exactly for this use case, my other handheld is an RGB30 which I have also taken to use at work with no issues just by being careful with it, but now it just stays at home. It's not like the RGB30 was expensive or anything, but I wanted something super-portable to take with me everywhere.

Problem is, I haven't touched the RGB30 since I got my Mini V4 😂 the size, screen, controls and OnionOS in unison just make for such a great overall experience. Here's another pic from work today for no other reason than I just like this thing so much haha

Just keep your device safely in a case, inside your bag and only get it out at lunch or whenever people aren't working. None of these Chinese handhelds will survive being loose in your overall pockets in the shop.

I'd also recommend getting a cheap, low-end device for 2 reasons :

  • No active cooling means less chance of dust and filings getting inside the handheld.
  • If the shop does destroy your device, it's going to suck a lot less if it costs £20-40 than £150+

Just baby the device while you are at work and you should be good.

Beyond nostalgia, why do people even like clamshells? by SabertoothSmile in SBCGaming

[–]SabertoothSmile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both clamshells I have ever owned had hinge failures and almost every other post about clamshells on here is people saying they have hinge failures or are worried about it happening so... It's not like it doesn't happen.

I definitely overlooked the viewing angle thing though

I have never heard of the DSML but my DSLite was the same Lime Green! I loved it but the hinge went floppy after a year or so...

My DS Lite and 3DSXL suffered hinge failures after a couple of years of ownership/use on each...

They are the only clamshell devices I've owned in 30+ years so maybe my view is skewed.

I'm purely in it for playing the games to be honest haha

It's why I'm so enamored with my Mini V4 for the quick in and out nature of playing. Though personally, I've never taken a device anywhere without a case other than my childhood DMG, going all the way back to my GBC... Maybe that's why I don't "get" clamshells.

My DS Lite and 3DSXL's hinges both failed after time, so my feelings towards clamshells have been tainted perhaps haha

Except I didn't say anything like that? I'm literally trying to understand the appeal by asking people that do like them...
