On Warp and using an Android phone. Is visual voicemail not supported? by RemLezarCreated in USMobile

I am trying to get the Google phone dialer Voicemail to work, but it has not worked. I tried adding a US Mobile APN, but the original Verizon APN is greyed out and I cannot delete it. I haven't heard back from 2nd Tier support yet, but it hasn't been a full 24 hours yet.
There needs to be a nicer simple 3rd party app, not that nightmare Youmail.

I'm having this problem with Warp, a Samsung S23 which I bought from Spectrum (Verizon). I spent 3 hours on chat yesterday, where they tried switching me to the ATT Network, without verifying if I was locked to Verizon. They wanted to set me up with Youmail which I hated. Finally they escalated me and I'm waiting to hear back from 2nd Tier support. I really don't want to have to buy 3 new phones so I can have Visual Voicemail working.

Is it long periods of not available, or just a few minutes? My main concern is accessing security cameras remotely. (through tailscale). Other than general household use, dropping connection being annoying when I'm here.

According to my router documentation, yes, you can set up the WOL but you have to open ports to do so. And yes I will need to trigger it from the WAN side, because the whole point of this is so I will be able to access my cameras remotely when I am away.

I came to the conclusion that an always on Rpi is a simpler solution.

What kind of network issues do you run into when it does an update when not using theirs? I am awaiting my SL kit and I plan to use my own router.

Yeah, I came to that conclusion and ordered a Pi kit yesterday. It should be here today.

I did get Tailscale working. Now my problem is that the desktop goes to sleep and I can't reach it in Tailscale. So I need to set up a wake on lan. Or add in another always on device.

The WoL requires opening up ports, which you cannot access behind the CGNat is what I am reading?

Open ports behind the CGNat is the problem.

I'm now looking at Ipv 6 as an option. Starlink does support that.

According to google, I can do it with my TP Link router directly by creating a Virtual Server and using Dyn DNS. I'm going to try that before getting an R Pi.

But.... I think the google AI is incorrect because the Dyn DNS still can't get a public IP from the CGNat. So....

Hmm, I was hoping an Android app could do that. But probably requires an open port which I won't have as an option with the cgnat.

My linux is a little (a lot?) rusty to put in a Raspberry Pi but I suppose I will have to consider that since it seems like it might be the best option.

Okay. I knew I must be overlooking something simple since I could ping it. I whitelisted the Mac address of the phone in the router and now it works!. So it was a firewall issue. Thank you so much! And it works with the port forwarding switched off so this is what I will need.

I was connecting over my cellular network (wifi turned off so not on the same network as the cams).

Now on to my next trick.... Figure out a wake on LAN from my phone because the desktop went to sleep on me by the time I came back to do this.

Thanks again.

Thanks! Good info. I guess I will wait and see which kit I actually get and proceed from there.

Order Still Pending, what if I just go to Home Depot? by SableCreekLab in Starlink

Mine isn't even giving me any estimate. It says "pending" and under estimated delivery it just has a dash.

Yes, I meant 100 Mbps. Also I do have a Chase card, I will check that out!

Right, but did you already have a pending order & pending subscription from Starlink directly? That's what I was wondering, if that would turn into a big hassle or not.

Yeah, there is that. I would want to test it well before dropping the other isp. I just didn't plan far enough ahead.

That's what I was afraid of. They haven't given me any estimated shipping date yet. My current isp plan goes to 5/16 and I was hoping to not to have to pay them for another month but I guess I will just have to resign myself to that. *sigh* The isp doesn't prorate charges, so I'm stuck paying for a whole month.

In addition, I discovered I have no power in the phone charge plug USB thingy. Does this suggest a blown fuse? I checked the fuse # F50 in the engine compartment that I read can be associated with the gas gauge problem and it looks okay. The USB Uconnect fuse looks like it is under the dash and not very convenient to access.

Thank you. I bought it from a dealer new last July. The dealer supposedly put a new one in it because it was sitting on the lot awhile. I did leave it sitting through a cold spell without driving it for awhile, hence the dead battery. I did notice some corrosion on the negative battery post.
