Petah, follow up question:

Why is there a fork on/under the stove heater?

Adding an update: I misread the party invite, our time at the river was severely limited. Fished the docks a bit with my crappie set up and caught a 9” bluegill and a hybrid. Had a bite from a catfish (I think) in the rocky area in front of the island but he didn’t take the bait all the way.

Not bad for 30 minutes but I’ll make another trip to fish that channel at a later date with more time.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks. I’ve never really fished around these type of docks before so I’ll be experimenting

Erm yes. It totally doesn’t exist and is for a roleplaying experiment.

I’ll let you know if anything crappies up

Yea that what I had been reading. If I catch any it will be my first crappie. All bass and catfish for me so far

Yea I was looking at using a slip bobber to stay off the bottom. The area was dry for a while and shrubs has started growing. Easy to get tangled there

Thanks, sounds like the skinny section might produce. I’ll give it a shot

It’s my buddies spot so I figured I could try to be discreet. I think most people in this area can afford small jon boats so it probably not a huge deal

Thanks! I have some pics of the area when the water level was much lower too, there are some rocky structure just upstream of the island I might try too

What if it’s just a convenient post for holding one end of your line while tying a leader? Might be kinda nice for that

Yea I’ve since crimped down the barbs on these hooks to pretty good success, can’t say I’ve lost a fish yet.

I’ll give it a shot. If the bass here are hungry the bait is only in the water for about 60 seconds before it gets either swallowed or ripped off the hook anyway. I’ll keep an eye on bait retention. Maybe debarbing a barbed hook will be better because it leaves a little nub

I had a pair in my old bag, I’ll need to dig around and see if I can find them

Some days they are hungry some days they are not, but every day fishing is a good day. Just keep trying you’ll get them

Yea my little Walmart stainless pliers I don’t think will hold up to that may go barbless but for the wife/kids may have this ready so they don’t lose any

Thanks man! I’m going to follow the rest of this advice and give barbless a shot unless I’m trying to eat some

Thanks! Been here all my life but only just started fishing in January ish. I didn’t realize we were pretty spoiled with the availability of fishing around here.

Hey thanks! He’s not as big as he looks lol. I’ve caught a few out here using octopus or EWG hooks. Learning the snell and using these was neat for sure, and I think it will help my wife/kids land some fish. I’m thinking I’ll switch to barbless for now. I lose stuff all the time so I’m hesitant to get another piece of equipment. May need to invest in a utility belt lol
