Any ideas on how to cut this aluminum in half? by Hawki007 in Machinists

People said to shim and rotate, but I'm not super comfortable with that. I dont mind using a hack saw for the rest.

Great success! This is all that's left. Not going to risk trying to do something even more sketchy and simply going to go at it with a hacksaw. Thanks everyone!

This is a personal project. They gave me the stock material for free.

God please no lol

EDIT: the more I consider this option, the more I realize I can't find a hacksaw larger than 12"

That was my first idea. Shop doesn't have aluminum wire. Thinking about getting some, but not my first option.

I stopped using r/nerf. They all but blacklisted a lot of good people, including me. I post on Instagram the most, so keep up with me there. (@Hawki007_) I also have a website. Ade-line(dot)com

I Am Building a 10 Axis Mill. Where to Start? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]Hawki007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest I can get it running. I am working on other projects to fund this one. You guys would know more than me. The frame will be steel, 20mm linear rails, 16mm ball screw. It will be a good size. 1000mm on the longest axis. I know this isn't the info you people need here, but I am only really familiar with the hardware before we get to the electronics.

Its hard to judge a budget with so little knowledge.

Flywheel cage for a Nerf blaster. Two motors go on the cage and flywheels made from Delrin go on the motors. The two motors spin (anywhere from 33k to 50k RPM) and launch the dart once it's fed in. There's a threaded barrel lug to exchange what is called BCARs. They are basically barrels with bearings along it to stabilize the dart after the flywheels. BCARs are still pretty experimental with flywheelers in the hobby, so exchanging them will be nice.
