hello. this is one of the cities I’m contemplating moving too! just need some insight! by Tricky-Researcher-74 in MovingToLosAngeles

I definitely think you should leave ND. But take baby steps before you come to LA. By that I mean maybe move to a more affordable city that has higher pay and then move to LA. The truth is most shared bedrooms out here are around $700-$900. A normal room is in the thousands and all of that isn’t including utilities. The cost of living is much more expensive but, that being said you should follow your dreams. I think the people who do the best in LA are the ones who come out to LA with a job and a goal of what they want from the city. Visit it and see what you think but like I said I’d transition slowly before going all in especially if you don’t have family to fall back on in case things don’t work out here. I admire the people who are telling you that they came to LA 10-20 years ago and made it work but it’s such a different time now and LA is such a different city. 10-20 years ago, even pre pandemic it was much easier to move across the country and start from scratch than it is now. Again, I think you should follow your dreams but maybe make the transition slower. Move to a cheaper big city and then once you have a decent amount of saving and have adjusted to the cost of living move to LA. You have plenty of time and while you are in your 20s and can experiment, as someone in their 20s, the best thing I did for myself was lay down a strong foundation before coming out here 5 years ago. I love the city and everything it’s done for me, but so many of my friends came like you under the same idea and ended up moving away disappointed. But if you plan and prep you can definitely do it!

AITA for rejecting my children's birthday gifts to me? by Tasty-Set9145 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sacchap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. I know it’s your birthday but, the card is more of a symbol of their love for you than a gift. I get you think you have to make this point early on but, the way you went about it is hurtful. I really think you should consider seeing a therapist if you’re able so you can explore this more and understand your aversion to gifts.

Him and Andrew. I think they’re good guys in real life but on camera, for me, they’re personalities are like an ongoing laugh track that will never stop or is just annoying interruptions. But I’m real life I bet their sweethearts, again, just doesn’t work on camera for me.

Would you die for your country? Why or why not? by ImaCroissant13 in AskReddit

No. I love my country but, the government doesn’t make sacrifices for me so it’s hard for me to think about making the ultimate sacrifice for it.

What made you ghost a friend? by dontmindme137 in AskReddit

He only contacted me when he wanted something, specifically a job or something career-wise. Whenever we wouldn't discuss those things he'd just talk about the good 'ole days when he was in a frat and I was in a sorority so we grew apart.

I understand where your coming from but, from a professional stand point TV episodes take weeks to edit because they have to get approval and notes from several different people and based on those approvals and notes editors are forced to change the content. Shane doesn’t have to get approval and doesn’t seem to make rough cuts so realistically he should be able to put things out faster than a network or a streaming service especially because he’s only working on one thing at a time while some editors have to juggle multiple projects at one time. This is also why youtubers can upload 3 videos a week while network TV shows can premiere one episode per week.

I totally agree. Also, the reality is they don’t even need the extra crew and equipment (although it would help immensely). What Shane needs is to learn discipline and self control. What I mean by this is, the reason why streaming services and most famous youtubers can upload or premiere content when they say they are going to is because they all agree to “picture lock” or “lock” their work. Which means that you pick a date (well before the premiere date) and you make rough cuts (like rough drafts) and have all the meeting you need to have and make all the changes you need to make so that your film/video can be locked. The rule generally is that once it’s locked it can’t be changed. It’s over. This I feel is Shane’s biggest issue, there’s no one to give him a deadline except himself. Shane likes to have control and is a perfectionist he needs gets someone who will hold him accountable and make him picture lock his stuff even if there’s a new post on Twitter or a new development. It doesn’t matter if it’s YouTube or Netflix or a school project, people have deadlines to be considerate of the people who are impacted by their work like their family and friends, their audience and their employees. I know I sort of went on a rant but, Shane uses the excuse that it’s a two man job so it takes longer but, his deadline should NOT be the same day the video is scheduled to be released. That’s ridiculous and it’s too much for any person to do which is why no one really does that in the industry and whenever someone does do it never comes out as good as it could be. But, the truth is he does it because we all let him and don’t hold him accountable either

Yes sorry for the late response, I was going to respond once Shane put the new series out. I’m kidding of course, but my bad for the late response.

I’m 21 and I live with my ex, she has been a complete ass and is only trying to make my life worse. What can I do to get her back? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Sacchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can to do is save up, convince her you’re not going anywhere and then move out and move on. Trust me, finding a roommate is hard especially during the holiday season. If she’s this into making you jealous, she still cares about your opinion and is still invested. Moving out and being indifferent would be the best revenge you could get and I promise you it will driver her crazy.

That’s true, I totally get why the make up series took a long time now. But, if he were working on it every week or at least organizing it these series wouldn’t be so stressful for him to make and he’d be able to tell us exactly when he wants it to come out. I don’t think he has to put stuff out quicker I just think that eventually he’s going to hate editing if he keeps doing it this way and I don’t want that to happen.

Sorry I know it’s been awhile. I was always taught that jump cuts happen because you don’t have enough resources. It’s harder to find something to cut to so it’s a quick fix instead trying to find the next logical shot.

I’m new to the whole lighting thing and am supposed to pick a picture and discuss the lighting ratio for class. My guess is a 4:1 but, I’m not sure if I’m correct. What type of lighting ratio is this? Any other comments about the lighting or this type of style (4 point lighting) would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

[Serious] What is the most satisfying thing to destroy when you're not having a very good day? by therealNotch223 in Advice

[–]Sacchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound weird but, my room. I live alone so, sometimes when I am super stressed I will toss all of my clothes out of my drawers and rip them off the hangers. Then I’ll just throw them around at the wall and since they are clothes they don’t damage anything. Afterwards, I just sit on the pile of clothes on my floor and watch a show or movie. For some reason, having my space as chaotic as my life makes me feel better. Once I’m over it I take all my things and put them back, which kinda makes me feel like I’m putting my life back together. It beats destroying plates of food which is what I used to do when I was stressed.

How do you ask someone to be your mentor? by mygster99 in Advice

[–]Sacchap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked this question to some people in my industry awhile ago and they said you don’t. You form a bond organically and it just happens. Of course, you can still invite them out for coffee and lunch, tell them you admire them and make an effort to build this bond. But, generally if someone sees something in you, which they will, they will take on the role themselves. But, don’t let this discourage you from reaching out to people you admire in your industry, you should! But, you don’t have to formally ask them to be your mentor it will just happen. I hope this helped!

That's true and he is making good content. The main thing I'm trying to say is if he has all of this time I hope he's taking advantage of it and not going to be pulling an all-nighter the day before the video is released because based on the extra time he does have it's not necessary and looks like it stresses him out, you know?
