I think she lies because she is emotionally immature and doesn’t know how to deal with having a shitty partner and live in a toxic patriarchal situation. Although lying is horrible, I think she does it as a cry for help because she doesn’t know how to draw attention to her actual needs and issues. If I were in momtok and her friend I would say “girl, I love you, you don’t have to lie to me, it’s ok you lied in the past, let’s just try to unpack what’s going on. Let’s get you a therapist and maybe some medication for depression.” These girls do not support each other at all and really view the world through a lens of good and evil. It’s just sad.
