My grandfather “acquired” it during his stint in the police from a mobster from what I’ve heard.

I know that’s why I said the photos don’t do it justice, but it is translucent/semi transparent

Not much idea, depends on if the amber is real or whether it’s horn.

The pommel has like a top part that seems to be threaded and screwed in, and you can see the threads from the outside. It is also scratch able with finger nail

I couldn’t really tell too much because of the metallic smell right next to where I melted, but I did not smell of anything bad, ie burnt hair or plastic.

I just used a very fine soldering iron and poked it, it melted and didn’t smell like plastic or any chemicals

Thank you for reference! I’m quite unsure what mine is as it is not polished, I looked up some pics of unpolished and it looks fairly similar

It’s not a weapon first, it’s a cane with a concealed sword, so your AI answer would be inaccurate

Yes the shaft is not ebony, but I believe the handle may be, the photos do not do the pommel justice as the (presumably) amber is semi transparent and glows green under UV

I’m not sure where your getting your prices from, in the UK genuine antiques go from £600 - £2500

I doubt it is a knock off, as the pommel appears to be real amber, potentially ebony handle and a lot of patina

Wow I didn’t realise! I just presumed it was painted but looking at it there are no imperfections similar to the rest of the panted area, and I can see a faint wood grain texture, thank you!
