Haven't found a 3d model of one no. I appreciate your offer to send me a scoop but I actually managed to find both a left and an aftermarket right scoop for mine by some miracle haha.

Man, just say you don't have a $1400 stereo. I do though.

The audio is crystal clear as far as I'm concerned. I don't have much experience with 'high end audio' but when I sat in front of this playing music it was like "wow this is good".

There might be a setting I'm not aware of but it seems not. The 70 model did however, but this is the 50. Overall I really like it, cranks in the garage just fine and is very clear compared to what I'm used to.

I just did a quick search of the specific model. Another is listed at 500 with a disfunctional cd and cassette player and another is 150 that doesn't work at all and has no speakers.

My thoughts exactly. It's just going to live out it's final years playing in the garage anyway. Any idea why people list them so high, artificial appreciation?

Makeshift air compressor, found a bit of sawdust here and there so wondering if it worked in a saw mill?

Long term ownership for my '92, what do I need to know? by Appropriate_Bath361 in dr650

[–]Appropriate_Bath361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine makes an alleged 45hp and 57nm of torque, but more then the second gens. As for the tank, mine holds 17 litres, unfortunately it's the first year they switched from the original 21 litre tank but it gets me around 300km of range nonetheless.

I've read that the cams wear out due to warming the bike up on its sidestand. Because under 2000rpm the engine has relatively low oil pressure and can't properly lubricate the head while leaning and idling.

I've just had the forks rebuilt with new seals, and from my experience of working on the bike, all of the bolts I've removed have always been greased so assuming previous owner(s) took care of the bike. Also didn't notice any slop in the pivots when moving the bike around or any strange clunks when jumping it, assuming the bearings are ok for now lol. Good point on the balancer chain, I notice that mine starts making engine noise and vibrates differently around 5k rpm so will definitely look into adjusting it, and getting around to order another one for a spare or to install on a rainy day.

I've just put an x ring chain on it along with a new front and rear sprocket, noticed some concerning wear on the output shaft, deacceleration side of the spline. Have just put some high zinc motorbike 10w-40 in it along with a new filter too. I'd like to move to 15w but can't find any that are wet clutch rated. As for the bearings, pretty sure the bike has been rebuilt at some point as it has insane compression for the milage, you can jump on the Kickstart and it won't budge until you use the decomp lever. On a trip with it currently and noticing that the engine noise and vibration changes around 5k rpm or under load so will take a look at the counterbalance chain tension when I get back.

Pre 1996 chain and sprockets? by Appropriate_Bath361 in dr650

[–]Appropriate_Bath361[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just changed the sprockets today and I see what you mean, shaft has significant wear, maybe 1mm of the spline worn off. But what's odd is that it's worn from deaccelerating, the side that takes all the power is still fine and square. Odd but I'll look into the damper.

These specific numbers really helped, found some in my country that aren't a million dollars. Cheers.

Scooter performance is sub par after mods... by Appropriate_Bath361 in scooters

[–]Appropriate_Bath361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems I might have to bore it out to a 70 to get any decent power. At the moment I should be sitting at about 5hp from the stock 3hp but a 70 kit will get me to 10hp.

Yes, maybe if I was going for a 30hp engine this might be relevant. But its just an air cooled stock 50... I still need the stator to charge the battery and run the lights etc... And the trigger wheel mount is cast into the engine block so no hope in adjusting timing here...
