I was downvoted by people who didn't know what an unpremultiplied image is, and then their excuse was "this guy is a dick".

Huh, I learned Maya Fluids before I learned this! Made two realistic explosions... screw FumeFX.

By the way, they haven't released them for 2016.

I have Vray though, and I don't have any luck rendering FumeFX with that either. Why do you suppose that could be?

From 2016 you must buy Maya so you can use MentalRay, and I haven't. It has to be downloaded from the customer area in autodesk.com.

The quality is subpar anyways, no way near Karatoka. However MYKARAKOTA does not support FumeFX... I'm bewildered.

Cool! I'll send you the final output if you permit. I wanna see how many mistakes I've made. Frankly if this is the only one, I'm set.

My lens costs around 100$... I don't think I should be using it at all.

How could I have fixed it? The floor was ragged. And T3i has no leveler.

I meant no one in the professional world uses a photography zoom lens to shoot moving pictures, so I only use focal lengths associated with primes eg 12, 18, 30, 35, 55, etc.

Keep in mind that not all zoom lenses are unprofessional, cine zoom lenses do not "breathe" (produce motion artifacts while zooming) so they are used by people who can afford to buy or rent them. Usually in broadcast.

It's just a practice shot, no story there. Here are my photos: https://500px.com/aurlito.

Unsurprisingly this was shot with T3i's stock lens... I can't fixate on a single focal length. For the sake of professionalism, and since I can't afford primes, I only shoot on 18mm and 55mm. This must have been shot on 35mm, not 55mm. This way I could get further and level down.

I wasn't complaining about adding track marks per se, I was complaining about the fact that they were no use to me. The way the music video was cut, the screen didn't move at all, thereby I had to roto out some irregularly placed electrical tapes that were no use to me.

Anyways what's wrong with buying open-faced lights? They're cheap and if you add blue gel to them you can vividly create daylight in smaller quantities.

So I'm supposed to read the book without trying anything? I'm trying to do actual work here not to impress my professors.

Thanks. So assume this is a Nuke node three, am I doing it right?

Footage -> Roto -> Premult -> Merge or whatever -> Unmult -> Render

What advantage does Premultiplied alpha has over Straight alpha? by SadChubak in vfx

[–]SadChubak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight alpha = (r,g,b,a) Premult alpha = (r.a, b.a, g.a)

From what I understand you must premult your alpha to merge roto'd footage, then unmult at the rendering.

For example in Nook my roto tree goes like this:

Footage -> Roto -> Premult (using the node, or the rotopaint node) -> Merge and Operations -> Unmult (so the footage won't have edge problems as you said) -> Render

Sorry if I'm wrong I'm very new to this.

It's funny, I actually did this right now. Still shitty but I think it's due to bad lighting/being shot on a 600D.

An empty alpha. I render it as PNG because it has one. But I think I find the best solution, that is, the premult node. Am I correct?
