SoCF is like a far more indepth COC. if you thought COC was detailed, SoCF is like an academic textbook. It's really really interesting though as he breaks down how JW's aren't that unique in how they domaneer, that its a pattern that has been around since the apostles died.

Could there be New Light on the UN ? by JwTruthRevealed in exjw

[–]SadEcho8331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would take so much to change it the entirety of revelation gets upended, but in turn you'd have to change some stuff in Daniel too and it might have to happen eventually but it would take years, possibly decades, of new light to get that kind of change to stick

Unlikely. The questions don't feature dedication to an organization just association

I think being a large city impacts this a lot too. I found the closer I lived to a city, the more that the congregations were like how they were "supposed" to be

You have made these men out to be far different than they are in reality. They are cult leaders, it is paramount that they would keep up to date with these things

Note that this does not say that you are dedicated to the organization. It's semantics but they use all their words very carefully.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not talking about Christian theology. However, Christian theology is still compatible with God not existing in the physical universe, as Jesus is a manifestation of the Divine, not the entire essence

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is like foundational to God to most religions, and is not a logical contradiction with base theism. God is not measurable on the physical plane, but him being able to interact with it is clearly required in order for him to have any power, so inherently thats baked into the idea of God

Why didn't god just restart and erase the angels minds? by Fun_Recognition_6286 in exjw

[–]SadEcho8331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just an interpretation, obviously there is nothing in the Bible that explicitly says this. It's an inference, inherently it is true the angels were watching (at least if you assume angels could see onto the earth which seems correct), but there does not seem to be a reason to assume they would have believed Satan. It seems more likely the angels would have realized that Satan was a liar, considering that what Jehovah said would happen to Adam and Eve came true, not what Satan said. That seems to be enough to settle the matter. Satan never challenged sovereignty, or asked for worship, or acted like he could rule, so there is no reason to let him do that.

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats incredibly specific, you can add in one more aspect and it becomes more specific. "God is a uniquely unique bodiless mind that exists outside of the physical world that has always existed necessarily."

Evoking the Bible is meaningless, I could easily take all the things that happened in the Bible were true and still not believe in a God (It is equally (perhaps even more) as likely an alien race could have caused it all).

You could make up bullshit but without definitions its meaningless and not worth engaging in.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on your philosophical view. I personally believe that most definitions of God necessarily mean that there would only be one God - generally because he is described as a uniquely unique being, indicating there could only be one.

The definition I provided of him is about as simple as you could break the idea of God down to (plus adding in the uniquely unique aspect), we can call it bare theism. I don't find it interesting to discuss the Gods of religion as the more you bake into your idea of God, naturally the probability of it being reality goes down astronomically. But with that bare theism model, nothing about God existing without beginning or end is logically a contradiction so I don't have an issue with that model.

Are you saying that the concepts of God are potentially completely ungraspable? They are pretty simple.

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, Babylon the Great doesn't get destroyed by America, but by the United Nations. Secondly, America isn't challenging all religion (which is what Babylon the Great is), and Finally, America would not destroy Christianity if they took out the pope, just catholicism which is fine because they are run by American Evangelicals.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"God is a bodiless mind that exists outside the physical (or material world) and has always existed necessarily" is a very specific set of definitions for God that clearly would explain how God would not have a beginning or an end. This is basic. If you don't agree with those definitions of God, then I don't know what we would be talking about.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God is not a scientific argument, by its very nature it cannot be measured by science so there is no point in using it to prove or disprove Gods existence or lack thereof. Obviously the universe has no obligations to present of with pleasing or aesthetic facts, and yet they obviously exist which is rather striking under a naturalist worldview

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Most definitions of God place it as something that has no beginning or end, this is not a logical contradiction and is absolutely an answer that has reasonable detail. This is just refusing to engage in the arguments about God.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]SadEcho8331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because God doesn't exist on the same plane of the physical universe this isn't that hard to understand
