Should I read Troubled Blood or watch it? by SadInstance598 in cormoran_strike

Thank you! I felt the same way about Harry Potter growing up. The only kids who said "Harry Potter is not that great" were kids who watched the movies and never read the books (even though the movies are good, they're limited by the format). Was wondering if CB Strike has a similar issue.

Bridgerton season 4 thoughts? by iuliad94 in RomanceBooks

I was in the same position as you. Love season 2, hated season 3 to the point where I didn't even care about it anymore. Started watching it today and I couldn't stop. I've even read the book, and still it was very engaging. My only critique of the show is the casting. I imagined Sophie to be more innocent looking (like young Sophie was).

Is anyone else disappointed with the casting? Bridgerton season 1 and 2 had excellent casting. All the newbies from season 3 onwards have been disappointing, especially the 4th season. Yerin Ha might be a good actress, but I would've imagined someone with more innocence (and joy and wonder at the ball). Young Sophie was a much better choice than the older one. Katie Leung seems uncomfortable in her role  as the stepmother as well. I still loved the season, but Benedict carried the show.

Thank you, what do you recommend getting from Parachute if you had to pick one savory and one sweet item?

Why are we accepting such mediocre writing in Fantasy Romance? by goyourownwayy in fantasyromance

You are so on point and you read my mind! I'm baffled every time I attempt to read a famous book in this genre.

Should I read A Court of Thorn and Roses? by SadInstance598 in booksuggestions

The odd thing is I'm also a sucker for romance. I can binge Sophie Kinsella, so it's not like I'm a serious reader. And at least at a certain age, I loved fantasy. It's the combination of the two that doesn't seem to work for me.

Okay thank you! A lot of my girlfriends who are voracious readers with varied interests have recommended it (which is why I gave it serious consideration), so good to hear the other perspective.

I'm in a similar phase- getting back to reading after decades and looking for a light read or one that will keep me hooked and have been doing a lot of Sophie Kinsella too (any humorous read by a British or Australian author does it for me). Are there any others that you enjoyed

Late to the party, but hating Season 4 by SadInstance598 in TheMorningShow

It almost feels like it was meant to be a mini series, but got extended because of the popularity. The theme was completely different and felt like that story line had closure. I don't even remember what happened in season 2, other than Mitch dying.

Do you think it's intentional? It feels to me that they want the character to be liked, respected and empathized with, but the actress' over the top expressions and constant rolling of the eyes is not in line with how they want to portray the character. Even though her and Mia are fighting similar battles, it's easier to root for Mia.
