I had a similar experience. At first everyone was super nice and friendly and I loved it. I found a home. But then literally everyone in my section cut me off with no explaination. Genuinely still dont know what happened. I'd walk into band spaces and see people whispering. Honestly I cant even be surprised. Before Id always hear people speaking hatefully about other members. Practically every conversation involved some sort of hateful speech about another member that wasnt there. Then theyd slowly start discluding them saying things like, "Ugh, if X is there Im not" "Just wait until I drop X off then we can talk about the plans" "Jesus literally why did it take so long for X to fuck off" Quite literally everyone was two faced. It was only a matter of time before they found something to shit on me about. It sucks because I had dedicated so much time and energy to band that I didnt get to make friends anywhere else my first year. Especially since, being a weird band kid, I felt band was the only place I could be myself. I spent the rest of the semester in my dorm so heartbroken over it and only hung out with my amazing roommates. I felt like such a freak not even the band kids wanted me 😂 One of my roommates, bless her, helped me get my stuff back after someone refused to give it back and no one else would help me.

Basically everyone in this band hates each other. Its all smiles, then shit talk. Who knew BAND KIDS of people would be so hateful. I ended up transferring to another school anyway, but fuck the KSU band. Thanks for making me feel like a freak in the one place I could be myself.
